Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who’s lived in the South his entire life and who is the face of the NFL franchise representing the Carolinas, said Friday it’s a “triumph” that the Confederate flag at the South Carolina State House has come down.

Speaking at the second annual Cam Newton Foundation 7-on-7 Championship at Nation Ford High in Fort Mill, S.C., Newton referenced several historic African-American figures as he celebrated the lowering of the flag.

He went on to say it’s not just about African-Americans but all races coming together and uniting.

“There shouldn’t be a discrepancy of this particular culture, this particular kind, this particular race between anybody else,” Newton said. “It’s very enlightening, it’s very impactful, to see that flag come down that was remembrance of something that’s not what this country is all about. This country is about the land of the free and anybody can become whatever they want. And with having a symbol that represented so much hatred, it’s just a triumph for it to come down.”

If Benjamin can be more consistent, that gives Funchess more chances to develop in game with the proper pace. Also, the two should both get 1on1 looks with Olsen at TE and a tale of 2 Ginns in the slot

I was thinking about if after I posted it, and truth is, without the cap space (I guess) to get a real elite safety, this is probably the best they could do. The CBs ain't really bad and Norman, I believe, was real good those last few games. Gonna have to be something you just hope they address next draft time

The secondary won't be so much of a hindrance that we'll just outright lose games because of them against most teams. Now when it comes to the GBs that have good offensive lines and good blocking backs...well

I think this line is gonna give me a heart attack this year...I don't trust Oher for shyt. I was hoping we could've gotten ole boy from Clemson regardless of his past weed problems. But I don't think the secondary is going to be terrible with Norman/Bene/Tillman....yeah we lack a great safety but Harper came up decent some games last year.

Not as worried bout the secondary this year. I still hate Roman Harper but ehh whatever. Defense is another DE away from being dominant. If the defense is dominant we're back-to-back-to-back in this bytch.
