I wish the teen could get the psychiatric help he clearly needs, but it seems he'll be just another moneymaker in the PIC. Even if these charges were reduced, with a felony record and his anger issues he probably be in and out

Hope the victim recovers swiftly as well

I'm really not tryna seem like one of them "free my nikka!!!" nikkas that give nikkas a pass for any and everything they do, but nikkas usually get probation for one-sided fights like this, esp under aged high school students, but dude got attempted murder, the sentence is overkill the more I think about it:patrice:

Look, the actions you take have consequences no matter what age you are. I have seen young people fight over less than this (looking at someone the wrong way) but even than most people have a natural instinct in their head when to stop. This probably isn't a one off incident/twist of fate even, imo. This kid needs help but he probably needs to be kept out of the general population for a while too.
I can agree with all that. He needs to be punished but not with a 25 year bid is all I'm saying. He needs help.

Does the victim have brain damage? Has that been determined?
You gotta go off the facts that are present...
The facts presented are; he was left in an unconcious state where he couldn't properly breathe while having a siezure. Thankfully he got repsonsive medical attention.

Crispness
Concussions = permanent brain damage.

As dude mentioned earlier, they're accumulative. The damage adds up so from here on, it will only get worse for him as he gets struck in the head. He was on the ground having a seizure. That's a tell tale sign of brain damage.

I'll let you tell it...

...but does he quit the football team now?

i think he's already there if he's willing to do all of that over a visor. pro-black doesn't mean you have to try & save every black person. there are good & bad in every race, we do ourselves a disservice trying to focus on saving the bad. it shows that being bad brings rewards & support
I can agree with that second part but I'm reluctant to abandon a black kid only a few years younger than me so easy.

You don't think it's strange for a juvenile to be charged as an adult for attempted murder for breaking somebodies' nose
and giving them a concussion?

Again - this young man is on the football team. This is something he could've done on the football field
to another player...
I was deep into boxing in my teens to early twenties so I know about concussions but he also had a seizure and that can be fatal definitely with the added blows he was receiving. It's a possibility he may other seizures in the future.

Give him counseling and probation. Only black men are expected to be treated as adults for mistakes they make when they're 17.

Hope for a speedy recovery for the other kid as well.

In hindsight, it will be. He needs counseling, and direction.

He doesn't need to be locked up and have the rest of his life ruined for a mistake he made when he was 17.

Just my opinion.

That's all you have to contribute to this thread?

I already gave my opinion on the thread. And when I said "the black community", I was referring to the CHILD(emphasis on CHILD) in the video. I'm talking about some of the cut throat comments I'm reading in this thread.

"Lock him up for life" "he deserves to rot in prison"

This is a kid we're talking about. Every other community is fine with looking at kids like they're kids when it comes their own. Not with us though. For whatever reason. Hell, you have white people who look at their own as "young kids" when they are well into their early 20s.

You guys are in here talking about pressing a serious charge on this kid, having him do years in prison and attaching a felony to his record, which will most certainly hinder him from having a future, all because of a mistake he made when he was 17. You think this 17 year old won't look back at this when he's 30 and think "man I threw my life away for nothing"?

This is a mistake that a child made. For all the "pro black" talk that goes in here, y'all are perfectly fine with seeing a young man throw his life away and lose his life over a mistake he made as a CHILD.

Malcolm X wasn't always Malcolm X. He did his dirt as a youth and became a better man from his mistakes

When it comes to black youth, a lot of you are just as cruel and mean as the white people you claim to hate.

He doesn't deserve to rot in prison over this. At all. He deserves to learn. To find direction and counseling. Period.
