1.Muddy Waters. Erick Sermon's best work

2. Ghostface - iron man. Rza did his thing on that

3. Jeru the damaja - wrath of the math. Dj Premier went in

I love Muddy Waters production but I feel it didn't fit the aesthetic of what the album was supposed to represent. shyt...you had darker, grungier beats on the Darkside album.

Still very well produced though. It could be a contender as well. Honourable mention.

Please. All eyez on me sounds fresh even today.

It's one of the best produced hip hop albums of all time.

Iron man sounds dated.
I've never understood this argument of picking and choosing what sounds dated.
That death row sound is completely dead in the mainstream. Pretty much completely dead period. What makes it sound fresh?
What makes Ironman sound dated?

Neither album sounds remotely close to what the current sound of hip hop is.

To me, either none of it is dated, or it all is.

This is so fukking difficult. 4 contenders imo:

- ATLiens: not so much the sound quality as much as the atmosphere that was created by that sound. Really sounds like some outer space shyt. Totally engulfs the listener.
- All Eyez on Me: the cleanest sound in 1996. Mixed and mastered to perfection almost. Sounds fresh still today, and some legendary beats of course on a 27 track double LP.
- Hell on Earth: Havoc taking drums to the next level here. Infinitely more hollow and lifeless and goes well with the extra menacing production. Also sounds very fresh, even compared to The Infamous that was released 1 year prior.
- Ironman: I've said this before, I think this album is technically better produced than OB4CL and Liquid Swords, I just prefer the sound of those albums better. Ironman just sounds more enriched and more refined. I think the production formula would be perfected a year later though on Wu Forever.

Gonna go with Hell on Earth.

This. Also:

- Endtroducing: I don't listen to this very often, but when I do I'm very impressed by the cohesiveness and sampling.

I think it's between this and HOE personally
