There is also a huge gap with more men if you look at the higher earning careers like IT, engineering, finance, etc. More Black women get degrees than men, but at HBCUs (or any other college) the STEM population tends to be lopsided towards men. I don't know how women earn against men in the same careers with same education but if it follows national trends, it is probably less.
In medicine it is fairly standardized pay structure...base pay + bonus pay based on the revenue you bring in. We have men just a few years out of residency making more than women that have 20 years of experience even though the women make $100k more in base pay. Men tend to be more willing to work longer hours, meaning more patients, and higher bonuses.
Women just value family life more than money. I am not sure why people are unwilling to accept that men and women are inherently different.
