Celtics' Danny Ainge says Isaiah Thomas will not require hip surgery

What a coincidence, Ainge says Thomas doesn't need surgery 5 days after Kyrie demand is made public :mjlol:

Celtics went from he won't need surgery, to we'll do tests in September to he might not be ready until December and it's supposed to be bullshyt that, when looked at by another's team doctors, his condition is worse than let on:gucci:

pointed out an article from three months ago that was written by a Boston-based sports medicine doctor. In an effort to describe the condition in layman’s terms, the Reddit user indicated how Thomas came to injure his hip:

“This injury is actually caused by the person’s own bone structure,” the Reddit user wrote. “Basically, some people are born with an extra bump on the end of their femur, hip bone, or both, and with repetitive motions like jumping, these bumps can pinch the protective cartilage in the hip (the labrum.) This is what happened with IT (Thomas). His bones pinched his hip labrum to the point of tearing in the playoffs.”

The bad news for Thomas is that without surgery, the issue won’t go away.

“With the extra bone still there, it’s only a matter of time before the labrum will be pinched and torn again,” wrote the Reddit user. “The only way to correct this is to shave off the extra bone so that it no longer pinches the labrum, which can only be done with surgery that has a 6-9 month recovery time.”

Thomas appeared to be aware of that unique situation when he was examined. ESPN’s Chris Forsberg noted this at the time of the examination:

“Like I have an extra bone or something, like doctor talk,” Thomas said. “I don’t understand what they’re saying.”

In addition, Thomas distinctly noted the possibility of surgery:

“[Surgery is] not the No. 1 option right now, but it could be once the swelling goes down,” Thomas said Friday while addressing reporters at Boston’s exit interviews. “They want to let [the swelling] die down a little bit then take another MRI once everything is down and it’s back to normal. We’ll go from there. Hopefully I don’t have to have surgery, but I know that is an option.”

They knew he had an injury, but they probably didn't know he had a structural flaw in his hips that makes reaggravating it more likely especially without surgery. How upfront were they? The Cavs think he might need surgery, the Celtics didn't announce that he wont need surgery until after Kyrie's trade demand went public :mjlol:

You can doubt that the Cs were upfront with IT's injury and I can doubt that the Cavs were surprised by anything having to do with IT's hip injury.

Chances are, the Cs did disclose IT's injury to the Cavs. All reports indicate that the Cs didn't conceal anything about IT's hip.

I think the truth is the new Cavs GM realized that he was about to get ripped off by Trader Danny and had buyer's remorse. :yeshrug:

Isaiah Thomas on hip: 'I am not damaged'

Cleveland and Boston officials started to engage each other on a solution on Tuesday, league sources told ESPN. Cleveland is no longer seeking one of the Celtics' top young players or significant draft picks, league sources said. The Cavaliers could be inclined to complete the deal for a late first-round pick or second-round considerations, league sources said.

The deadline to report and submit to a physical for the players involved in the trade is 10 a.m. ET Wednesday, and the deadline to pass the physical is 10 a.m. ET Thursday, per league rules.

In an interview with ESPN on Tuesday afternoon, Thomas was forceful in his belief that the labrum injury that ended his season in the Eastern Conference Finals to Cleveland will not have a long-term impact on his career.

"There's never been an indication that I wouldn't be back, and there's never been an indication that this is something messing up my career," Thomas told ESPN.
"Maybe I am not going to be back as soon this season as everyone wants me to be, but I'm going to be back, and I'm going to be the same player again. No doctor has told me anything different than that."

Great so a late first or second round... Guess Cavs moving on from LBJ for good too

Or is there a trade on the horizon? Cuz their pick plus extra pick..plus love plus shump =????
Gotta be another trade in the works or they're just hoping at the deadline that extra pick will come in handy dealing for Melo or someone else.

Can't count on Thomas health at this point. They need to add something else either before or during the season.
