That's how it is in most cases, that's why marriage is such a sham. Only a small minority do it for the right reasons. The rest is just to stunt. So that when your friends talk about their relationship, you can say you have one too. But a lot of times people will act like everything is fine when the relationship is pure shyt, but people get pressured to keep up with them.
This woman could have found a guy, even the most unattractive women find guys, but thankfully she had standards. It is better to commit that than settle for some loser. There is nothing wrong with having high standards, it's better to have high standards than be some chump who will tolerate an idiot just to keep up with friends.

There was something else behind this story but that journalist is trying to make it seem like it's only because she wasn't married . She couldn't cope with a relationship that ended five years ago, she said herself that she has demons, she sends pics of herself crying. I think she has mental issues that were exacerbated by alcohol. Probably borderline or bipolar which can drive others away from wanting to be with you. In other words her mental issues and suicide didn't come from being a 30 year old spinster; her mental issues caused her spinster status. But I bet someone here is going to blame feminism (didn't read entire thread)
It's funny you say that... i never believed it, especially in this modern era.
My girl (30) mentioned to me back in college a couple of her friends just want to get done with college and live that matriarch lifestyle (in this case, just getting hitched and having kids; the deal was... it didn't matter WHO IT WAS WITH, AS LONG AS THEY ACHIEVED THE TITLE OF BEING A "MRS." AND HAVING KIDS).
I'm like... wtf? Just like that? This whole idea of, i guess, to just want to settle down immediately after college with the first person that got down on both and proposed just seem so antiquated and hurried. But then i thought about this current, SWIPE-WEST-TO-EAST, social media-laden society we live in and when you consider that most women just want to be career women with thot-like philosophies... it's actually quite a noble, albeit archaic, mindset (i guess the disney effect still had some residual effect from these 80's babies).
If people "Lower their standards", so to speak... then let them. People will only learn through trial, error and experience. For some people... it won't work to jump the gun to prematurely rid themselves of societal pressures or cater to the mantra of supposed to "do something because it's what's expected and norm"...
But who are we to penalize people cuz they actually have genuine notions of being hitched? Not necessarily pandering to their social media feeds and impressing their kin and co., but have true intentions of just wanting to "settle" and having a family. I'm sure there are still some left who feel that way... adults whom are legitimately responsible and mature enough to want to extend their bloodlines with the motive to procreate and produce offspring from a cultivated and loving union. No Gabrielle.
Now those that do it strictly for the rude and crass agenda of stunting... i wish those people what they deserve. This is why i don't have any social media accounts because the amount of it i hear about it online through people i DO know with those online vanity pages... it's enough to make you wanna hurl and lose absolute utter faith in humanity as the tasteless and superficial displays of self-absorption and narcissism are at full display... all for the sake of acquiring temporary likes.
And as this continues to inevitably thrive in our world... we can only feel lament for the kids that are subjected to having been conceived for social media props (but i guess one can argue, it beats the hell out of being hatched out of wed-lock).
Back to the story at hand. Can't really say shiit about something i don't feel bad for. First world white woman problems... now they no longer exist because she took the easy way out. The afterlife has places for her.
