This is crazy how some of ya'll are ripping Bun. Should Bun B use a more threatening vocal tone when getting his corporate paper? He using the same voice he use while lecturing at prestigious Rice University and I for one don't have a problem with it. This commercial is obviously meant to air during prime time and its a good look, but sounds like some of ya'll think Bun should have made sure this commercial was about him rather than about toothpaste :what:

If you criticizing this nikka for coming across as "friendly", mainstream or approachable, you're life is fukked up and you need to re-prioritize things cuz what you fail to realize is YOU, not white America are then perpetuating the belief that Hip-Hop can be none of those things.

Listen homeboy, every second of every minute of every hour of the day we have a choice... a choice of how and whether to present our most authentic self. Regardless of the scenario.

Meditate on that.

That was 'bout as deep as a belly button. Either way, you seem to have a great deal of respect for authenticity.

hip hop has always been about opening doors, NOT shutting them. what bun b is doing IS HIP HOP. only someone who doesn't understand what hip hop is about will see it as being anything but....

Happy for Bun B. No disrespect to Pimp C, but doing Colgate commercials is more ideal than someone shouting out an RIP about you.

You guys will literally complain about fukking everything

The guy is getting money in a commercial promoting brushing your teeth and some how his friend is rolling in his grave?

Exactly...wtf.......is BRUSHING YOUR TEETH considered c00nISH NOW???? :why:

it didn't come off minstrel like ...it wasn't like as if he was MC HAMMER dancing for chicken....

Never used that word either... yeah, it was extra shape shifting ... and it was unnecessary.

@Oww Yung Fat

Bun arguably get's his first BIG national platform, and a STRONG image, Bun's Southern, Intense, STRONG, somewhat imposing, yet likeable image that he has usually presented of himself as a black man got the bushes. :patrice:

:usure:
:mindblown:

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with his mannerism, tone of voice, or diction in this commercial. And also I take issue with you claiming they "feminized" him :what:

Just because your not used to seeing him in that setting as a rapper does not mean that wasn't a side of him that is REAL, I guarantee his wife and kids/family see that side of him on a regular basis.

I hate to tell yall dudes but even the realest rappers play some form of CHARACTER in public with they rap persona, even if it's just closing us out to different sides of themselves.

Them nikkas is human and ain't nothing wrong with speaking the way he was speaking.

Ok... what do you think the best presentation -- and or representation of self -- of a black man should be on his first national platform? Assuming you're black... if you're not, don't respond.
