You must teach at a good school. Good for you. A lot of schools around the country are struggling. Alot of young black kids are struggling the most. .. I want a discussion on that because we need to shift the tide.
I don't teach, I run a youth empowerment program, and its sole purpose is to work with kids that need extra guidance.

I am working to shift the tide everyday.

Repeating generalizations and stereotypes does nothing to help them. It hurts them, which is why i vehemently speak out against it when I hear them.

You wouldn't believe all the kids that were able to turn themselves around, just by having a positive influence and an outlet to look forward to. These kids are told they are bad and not worth shyt from the time they come out the womb. It's not a surprise that they live up to expectations.

You really wanna help the black community, then quit with the stereotyping, and go do something.

I'd work to help the kids in the op instead of talking about physically harming them or throwing them in jail.

CHICAGO
CVS is not an alternative school. In fact when I was in HS it was easily the single largest High school on the Southside of chicago.

it still is one of the largest high schools or the largest i believe in the whole city.
it use to be an old sears.
you could drive a semitruck down the hallway, the hallways are so big.
cvs, and lindbloom used to be the top trade schools as well.
cvs went to full shyt in the early 2000's.
when, one of my homies went there, and graduated in like o5, or so.

Its a damn shame that some of the "brothers" on this site are falling for the smoke. Cmon now :mjpls:

And btw im almost 100% you can find a similar video of lil shytty cac's behaving in a similar manner. Its HIGHSCHOOL. Everyone is a doofus.

Worked in a small-town Midwest high school a couple years. This is fact. Dumbass kids everywhere show out. And, at all economic levels too.

The difference is, WE can't afford this kind of fukkery

A damning indictment on black american culture. Just damning. When people try to augment the 'black lives matter' conversation, by addressing our own behavior and what we do to each other as being just as important as white racism THIS is what we're talking about. Scores of black children and young adults, who are unchecked and unaccountable for their wild, out-of-control behavior is a necessary addendum to conversations about harassment, mistreatment, and bias from the broader society. Im so fukking pissed about this video, you have no idea.

I haven't read all the thread so I'm not sure whether this is a troll post, but since I greatly respect you as a poster I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not going to damn an entire race based on a video of what looked like a detention class. The video made my blood boil, it is disgusting, I felt terrible for that helpless teacher, etc. The school is apparently on the south side of Chicago, in Avalon Park. I'm not familiar with the area but wikipedia suggests it's not a bad area. Any Chicago dudes here who have been there? I was looking to see whether this was some run down school, which you could argue is the product of white racism. But everything I'm finding suggests it isn't a bad school.

There is a lot of black violence in schools. A lot of this happens in run down schools in terrible neighborhoods, where parents are nonexistent and teachers are over worked. The damning thing about this to me is that this school doesn't appear to be some terrible school with limited resources. Where the hell are those kids' parents.

YES we need to do better and demand more from our people. I'm not denying that. But let's remember this shyt doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Got it, so you don't teach in schools. You deal with the kids who are trying to better their situation. That's great.

I'm not one to sugarcoat the truth because it will hurt feelings. I also don't ascribe to the belief that doing so is empowering. Me and you are very different.

And do you not teach your kids not to be unruly so as not to bring negative consequences upon themselves?

Never saw anything like this in the school you went to?

Like what was in the video? Absolutely not

I'm not saying this never happens (obviously it happened at least once), i'm just trying to find out how common this really is :patrice:

Get up in arms for a video that aired in 2011 brehs :snoop:

No one questioned why now? Why 4 years later this video "surfaces" right after people got upset over Ben Fields? It's all a setup to get people to think the girl being assaulted last week was her fault and we need more people like Ben Fields. Even in the OP it says that it was filmed by a student, but how did they get the footage from 4 years ago and think this was news worthy? Just let it die. It somehow got on Youtube (one of the copies), but it was taken down for rule violations and then it comes on LiveLeak.

Y'all getting played, don't fall for it.
That's EXACTLY why this video has surfaced. Transparent as fukk angle, they ain't slick.

Behavior like this unfortunately is common.

No sense in denying it really. ..

Kids who you would condemn as "bad" are the same ones coming to my program asking for help.

They are one in the same. Just because the kids in the OP acted out does not mean they won't or can't work to better themselves.

I'm not one to sugarcoat the truth because it will hurt feelings. I also don't ascribe to the belief that doing so is empowering. Me and you are very different.
Nothing you said was "the truth" only stereotypes you learned from watching tv

And do you not teach your kids not to be unruly so as not to bring negative consequences upon themselves?
Sure I do. I never claimed the kids in the op didn't deserve consequences. I said physical harm or jail as people are calling for would not help them be better people.
