its week 1. give the nfl several weeks of film on it before we start crowning an offense. can it be successful? sure, especially in the extreme short term. is it revolutionizing the game? fukk no
It's amazing how this site works. Year after year it's the same reactionary bullshyt. Entire leagues are "revolutionized" after one game. A coach doing something that's been done for like 20 years is an innovator :heh:

how? by running an offense that has already been run in the nfl before?...this shyt aint nothing but the run and gun, no huddle....the bills used to run this same offense in the late 80s early 90s...they called it the 'Kelly o' or some shyt like that...the falcons and oilers ran it too thanks to jerry Glanville (sp)...anyway, only difference between that and this/the new spread offenses being run is you have more athletic qbs now, so they can do more than just stand back there and throw...

its not the run and gun dawg.. Kelly options was not to run the ball.. lol

From The Westside With Love
Art Briles been runnin spread since the mid 90s when he was a high school coach. High school coaches all over Texas started copying his offensive sets, then you started seeing it in college. Don't know who he got it from, but he used to dominate with it and put several qbs in D-I before becoming a college coach himself.

If a lot of teams ran the spread, you might end up with a different idea of the QB position. There are a lot more decent spread QB than you basic pro set or west coast offense because you don't need a 6'5" 240 lb qb with a rocket arm to run it. Perhaps you go with 4-5 QBs on your offense that are decent at running it and concentrate on getting the ball to playmakers rather than relying on 1 guy that gets paid $100 milly.

Norm Chow was doing this at BYU in the 80's

When we start talmbout "revolutionizing" something, we gotta consider the mark that it makes and the legacy it leaves.

Like, the wishbone "revolutionized" football.

Not sure Chip's offense is either on track to doing QUITE that much, or comparably innovative....his is more of a refined variation of a previous idea (even though it's a good one).

i know, that's why i said the qb has changed, which has added the option of running by the qb to the offense...the basic principal though of no huddle, hurry up, run and gun that chip is using isnt new like they trying to say it is...

there's nothing revolutionary with that offense. this is like the talk of how the wildcat was going to revolutionize the game or how the pistol formaiton was going to revolutionalize the game. that no-huddle spread offense will work if you have a good line and a fast mobile QB and efficient RB. and you have to question about endurance during the season.

What The Purpose Of Those Picture Cards?

This is a play calling system devised in the college ranks and used by some coaches to communicate the offensive play to kids. The reason they use random pictures is because it's funny and makes sense right away.

For example they show a picture of a particular golfer. That golfer always comes in 2nd at every tournament, so they know right away the play call is "X 2 X X"
