I think most people think like that? :yeshrug:

Don't listen to self-centered, narcissistic a$$holes like that. What he's unaware of is that he has mental issues too, issues that are even worse than Bronner's. If he didn't he'd have the ability to empathize with someone who he calls a friend. He's not truly Adrian Bronner's friend, because no friend would ever tell their friend that they should kill themselves

I myself have gone through much planning on my own suicide so I understand what you are saying. Understand that I am saying, if you really wanted to die, you would be motivated to find a way. Whether it is killing yourself slowly, through drugs and alcohol, violently from a gunshot wound to the head, or simply jumping off a bridge with a concrete block attached to you so your body stays underwater making it more difficult to be found or suicide by cop.

But if living is so hard for you, why havent you killed yourself yet? Must not be that bad. You must have some reason to live. So live. It's not hopeless and as long as you have life you have the ability to make a difference and a change. By killing yourself, you are just dead meat. Unless you become some matyr or die a hero saving someone else. At the end of the day, make a decision and do something. Either shyt or get off the pot. Everyone has to get to that point and for a lot of people they have to hit rock bottom first and realize that they want something more.
I haven't killed myself yet because certain measures aren't in place at the moment. I'm working on it.

USA is the 3rd most depressed nation...

Suicide is the most common in 1st world nations...

Basically...life sucks and people will tell you it will get better...but it really doesn't...there are no wins in life...only losses...

And honestly, it takes way more strength and courage to realize something sucks and to end it...than to stick around...

Suicide is about ending suffering and preventing further suffering. Suffering is a constant for any living being. There is no relief from it.

The reason why people tell you to kill yourself when you tell them that you are depressed is because people have a veil of ignorance when it comes to life.

People like to ignore things that would make them uncomfortable. Depressed people don't have that...on top of it being a biological sickness in the brain, it reveals a deep psychological honesty that you can only get when you are depressed.

You realize shyt sucks...like really sucks...shyt that normally wouldn't bother you, will bother you. Like seeing a homeless person on the street...may be a normal occurrence for a regular person, but for a depressed person it's like a crime against humanity...it's a reminder on how shytty life really is...some people have houses...some people sleep on a bench and are begging in front of Walmart...

How fair is that...one thing can go wrong in your life and now you begging for money

Now you go tell someone in a normal mood that you are depressed...the people that will tell you to go kill yourself...are so far in their veil and can't possibly understand why you would be depressed...especially in a country like USA

"Oh we have food, we have video games, we have elections, we got p*ssy, we got free education, we got nice jobs...why you depressed, why don't you trade places with some starving African..." :comeon:

And a depressed person will then feel ashamed for being depressed, as if you are supposed to enjoy these material things...

When depression is a societal sickness, it's about coercion and doing something you don't wanna do. It's about seeing deep structural unfairness. It's about recognizing structural limitations in your life. It's about realizing how cruel and insignificant your very existence is. It's about realizing there's no such thing as destiny or fate. It's about realizing how alone you are.

So you going to kill yourself...will be confirmation how fukked up the world is...and people that say "Go kill yourself" are calling your bluff...

If you caught the depression bug...well there's no way out...

They'll give you some drugs, give you a support group, give you a therapist...

Really wouldn't solve your problem or a problem, just help you put the veil back on...so you can be a good soldier and continue on living for society, so you can continue to pay your debt to the masses that are probably just as miserable you are but are coerced into staying around.

Being depressed is a form of sanity, it isn't a weakness whatsoever.

Depression has nothing to do with being American. People suffer from this worldwide what are you talking about no way out of depression? :what:

Breh, I have family and friends that were/are clinically depressed and have made it out of it and or are much better than they were. It's no a societal sickness. you can be totally alone and be depressed or be surrounded totally by loving people and have an in place support group and still be depressed. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Being a Nihilist and being depressed are two wholly different things breh.

Not surprised to see this thread on a Monday. You'll get through this week and then the next one. And then eventually one day or week or month life will be :blessed: again. You can't see it coming now but just wait for that moment. It's always worth it. Whenever it comes I always say "I'm glad I am still here to experience this.":youngsabo:

Stop it right now. Seriously stop. You're not a medical professional.
Dont tell someone to commit suicide as some type of challenge
When did I claim to be? :dahell:
A lot of suicidal people don't want to commit suicide, they just wanna die.

If there was physician assisted suicide for the mentally ill and terminally in the USA...a lot of people would off themselves and not worry about being a vegetable.

And having a reason to live isn't a good enough reason for living.

A lot of reasons people continue living is due to lack of method, due to not wanting to die in a family member's house or straight up survival instinct...

Suicide is about ending suffering, it's not about living a particular lifestyle...some people just don't wanna be here period and never would even choose to be here in the first place.
Thanks but you are not telling me anything that I did not already know. My point is as long as you are living, you have choice. You have power. You can make life worth living.

At the end of the day, you have the situation you are in, and you make a choice and you live with that choice. Worrying about shyt you are unable to control doesnt do anything. Where there is a will, there is a way. If people want to end their suffering, most are able to, but suicide isn't the only way.

I haven't killed myself yet because certain measures aren't in place at the moment. I'm working on it.
We've talked about this. :francis:

I heard that if you start taking them and cut cold turkey is not a good experience. So how can poor black people who can't afford medication be able to take care of their depression with pills? There needs to be a better way to deal with depression.

It's not.

I was on pexeva (paxil derivative) for a good month, maybe. It didn't make me feel better, just zoned out and numb.

When they stopped giving them to me, I spent what I'm guessing was a week like

nooooo-gif.644

on top of feeling like what people describe being "dopesick" feeling like. shivering, shaking, sweating, feeling like all my muscles were clenched up. skin constantly itching..... like the flu, times 100.

I'll never take prescribed meds again.

#2 - run yourself into a ground for a goal. If you find yourself at your very wits end and you think about killing yourself, ask yourself what is the one thing you want(ed) out of life. And then pursue that relentlessly. You have nothing to lose. If it's "the perfect body" then shut off all distractions and just focus on only getting the perfect body. Spend hours and hours at the gym. Get rid of anything impeding your goal. You'll either achieve the goal (and feel great) OR you'll end up dying pursuing the goal (which in theory you wanted to do anyway).

How is this a way out of depression? You just told a depressed individual to be super narcissistic...

This is just conforming and hiding from the fact that you are miserable and something is wrong...

Depression and suicide are diseases of civilization. In indigenous areas where there has been no colonization...there is no such thing as mental illness.

People traded their mental and physical well-being for material goods and social status...

There is no way out of that. Depression is caused by that. There will always be economic uncertainty. There will always be economic and social competition. There will always be higher social value assigned to those that are better looking or more educated or wealthy...things which you really have no control over...this is up to your parents...it is not up to you as social status reproduces itself. If you were born rich, you might stay rich, if you were born middle class, you will almost be guaranteed to stay middle class, if you were born poor, you will almost guaranteed to stay poor.

Leisure time will be given to those that can afford it...another thing which you really have no control over.

Society is parasitic, it feeds off of the individuals that are in it. You will always give more than what you receive. You will give your time, you will give your money, you will give your life to society...this is the main reason why suicide is frowned upon and looked at as cowardly or weak...it's gang mentality.

Now combine this with the general pain and suffering just due to the biological being...the sickness, the getting older, the aches and pains as you advance through your years...

There's no way out of this...we live in a Western country...we live in a first world country...where money and status is everything...if you got the depression bug...depression is like herpes...

I never said it is a way out. I'm not a psychiatrist :whoa: or a psychologist.

I am a regular dude with regular dude advice. I used "get the perfect body" as AN EXAMPLE (the reading comprehension on some of you cats sometimes is :snoop:)

Here is my advice :

#1 SEEK HELP (you seem to have ignored that but I'll let you cook)

#2 Pursue your life's goal relentlessly. Let's use a DIFFERENT GOAL: Video game programmer

You want to be a Video game programmer but you are suicidal. You come to your wits end and you want to give up on life. You are 10 minutes from killing yourself. You then decide. "instead of killing myself, I'm going to get rid of every distraction in my life to become a video game programmer. I'm going to find out what schooling I need, and then I'm going to work 2 jobs toward saving money to pay for that schooling, when I am in that school I am ONLY going to focus on sustaining my life (food water shower) and video game programming. I am going to get rid of facebook, instagram, the gym, my BS friends, I am going to run myself into the ground in order to become a video game programmer."

the only two things that can come from this (if done correctly) are: 1 - you DIE (but in the example you were already going to commit suicide anyway) OR 2 - you become a video game programmer. You achieve the goal that you wanted. You've devoted your life's energy to change your circumstances in a positive way. Instead of wallowing in sadness, you've maximized your time and energy into becoming what you wanted to become.

Just because you want to end suffering, doesn't mean you necessarily want to die. If you wanted to die, you'd kill yourself.

Suicide is a last choice because most people's will to live is stronger than their suffering. However, there are some people who are in so much pain that death is a sweet release. I see no problem with that.

The issue with depression is that you feel stuck and hopeless. You have little to no motivation especially in deep depression. So, you have to take advantage of any hold of any little hope that you do have.

The future is uncertain but the only thing constant is change. So you can stay here to see that change, you can make choices in order to make it a positive change or you can do nothing and let the world pass you over. If you let depression suck you in you are not living, you have given up. But you are not dead because you still have the opportunity to make the choice to try and improve.

I was suicidal before which is why I don't react emotionally to suicide. I treat it as a matter of fact thing. I didn't want to have a painful death or let my death be a burden on my family and I kept coming up with excuses. And I kept putting it off because there are other options. You just have to get through the next 5 minutes, the next hour, the next day. Take it one day (or whatever increment) at a time. If you can make it through today, you can make it through tomorrow, and the next week, year or lifetime.

When you cut off your life, you never know what you might have accomplished. But if you wait, things might get better.

There's nothing wrong with it. I use to be a strong proponent of people never committing suicide while providing all these BS motivations for why you should fight through it and win. Even though I always understood the psychology behind suicide.

Now I'm of the mindset that if you felt like you were given a bad deck in life and do not want to continue, kill yourself. It's your life and nobody elses.

I have to agree with some of those in here who said that in the black community, we tend to be very judgmental, and dismissive of those suffering from mental illness, yes white ppl can be too to some extent but trust me we are way averse towards treatment like therapy, medication, etc.

And think about it, how do a lot of us cope instead? Smoking cigarettes, drinking, eating unhealthy foods, sex, etc. Of course there's nothing wrong doing this stuff in moderation but doing it excessively as a way to kind of temporarily 'escape' or numb the pain leads to a lot of other problems later in life.

When I got out of the army I was recommended to go to therapy (I have PTSD), i was also trying to get disability at the time so that was another reason I had to go, and I saw mostly whites, some asian and Latinos, and one other black person. It was always like that. And of course most of the doctors were white. They were cool but I liked talking to the black doctor the most. There are more black ppl dealing with mental health issues than we realize, I mean, we go through the most out of anybody else in this country so of course some of us experience that, but a lot of us view seeking professional help as weak or that you should just get over it. I think it's actually worse to let it go untreated for years than to actually see someone who can help, not just talking to them but for me they helped me get my benefits as well so I had no reason not go.

And it's wild, I've had some white friends who would just be like "yeah I gotta pick my sis up from therapy but after that I'll meet y'all there" like thought nothing of it, or even would go to some of their sessions, there are some of them who are averse to it too but not as much as we are.
