Disney demanding major costs cuts at ESPN

1. 24 hour news cycle is BS for sports.
2. ESPN Deportes
3. Not offering a streaming/ala carte option.
4. Employing shyt talking heads like Skip and "Sources".
5. Losing World Cup rights to FOX and EPL rights to NBC (Soccer about to become a huge draw, look at Bein Sport)
6. SC Anchors clearly NOT knowing the sport they are asked to present. (Just look at when they do Cricket or EPL highlights )


All of this leads to a devaluing of a product. Their ONLY two redeeming products to me are the NBA coverage and the MLB coverage...IMO ESPN still does baseball better than everyone.

can't really be mad at that, that's ESPN trying to be too inclusive, americans don't care about that shyt....and because they don't care, it doesn't make sense to invest in talent that knows those topics, even if just temporarily. should those sports grow more in the US, they'll get talking head who know how to break it down.

Only reason they have lost customers is because people don't pay for tv anymore

Yeah, I think part of the reason subscriptions are down is because of this reason. I'm sure cable subscriptions across the board are down doesn't because of more people cutting the cord. The whole cable model is really archaic at this point. It's only so long they can hold out on offering a la carte options. Sling TV is really ahead of the game.

Just make WatchESPN a standalone app separate from cable companies and charge people $9.99 per month or something similar

And stop with all these repetitive opinionated shows

1 or 2 of them are fine but when your entire lineup is filled with shows all talking about the same shyt it turns people off

Thats the main reason why I stopped watching and im pretty sure all the other customers they lost will say the same thing

According to the article, something like that would have to cost $30 to maintain profit margins. I take articles like these with a grain of salt though. Nobody really knows what's going on, or what the agenda may be.

People sill on this "a la carte" BS as if it would ultimately benefit them. Did you not read in the article where it said ESPN would have to charge at least $30 a la carte for it to balance out.

Depends. Knowing sports is not my JOB but if it was you could be for damn sure I would know a bout sports that MILLIONS of people watch. Cricket in terms of total people who watch it is more popular than Football and Hockey.

Another thing is I don't need to have fukking updates on fukking people reporting to NFL training camp. ESPN football coverage is by far the most heinous. Especially with Mr. "2 Cell Phones and both them bytches slappin'" Adam Schefter. Seriously the NFL coverage is annoying. its the shortest season, some of the most uncharismatic players (nothing worse than baseball though) etc.

And I still don't think ATH and PTI need to be right next to each other...

mike and mike is money maker for them, so is skip & sas, and tony & wilbon. his and hers is doing well for them, don't see that getting cut. they need to get rid of shyt like NFL insiders which is followed by NFL Live, gets redundant, just give them a segment in NFL live. they also have too much sportscenter on, that was needed int he 90's, not so much right now. more documentaries, even dreaded reality tv might put some life in them
