Disney demanding major costs cuts at ESPN

ESPN is looking at FoxNews and wondering how to increase viewership. Eventually they will come to the conclusion that they should cater to the lowest common denominator and it will be more about reinforcing the views and satisfying the desires of those kinds of people instead of doing what they should be doing, which is reporting on fukking sports.

Thus more disposable crap like First Take and that idiot Beadle and less 30 for 30 shyt or shyt that actually has to do with what is going on on the field/court/pitch

ESPN World (This show will center around all news not involving sports including pop culture, music, fashion trends, and other breaking news) The show will air week nights at 9-10 on ESPN all access. The station is currently looking for 4 diverse anchors to host the show on a rotating basis.



ESPN is looking to produce more 30 for 30 documentaries, and also create original sports movie content (think playmakers) to aire on their newly minted network.

1. 24 hour news cycle is BS for sports.
2. ESPN Deportes
3. Not offering a streaming/ala carte option.
4. Employing shyt talking heads like Skip and "Sources".
5. Losing World Cup rights to FOX and EPL rights to NBC (Soccer about to become a huge draw, look at Bein Sport)
6. SC Anchors clearly NOT knowing the sport they are asked to present. (Just look at when they do Cricket or EPL highlights )


All of this leads to a devaluing of a product. Their ONLY two redeeming products to me are the NBA coverage and the MLB coverage...IMO ESPN still does baseball better than everyone.

MLB Network is hands down the best single sports network. Their coverage is 10x better than ESPNs.

I may be in the minority, but the only thing I watch on ESPN is NBA games and some MNF games. I haven't watched SportsCenter in a long time, and I get the podcast for PTI. Although, I visit the website probably multiple times a day.

it's not about cutting talent , most of that money is coming from production and possibly sports programming. a lot less mofo's gonna be going on the road/attending events, and they might have to give up some games which fs1, cbss, and nbcs will all gladly pay for

mike and mike is money maker for them, so is skip & sas, and tony & wilbon. his and hers is doing well for them, don't see that getting cut. they need to get rid of shyt like NFL insiders which is followed by NFL Live, gets redundant, just give them a segment in NFL live. they also have too much sportscenter on, that was needed int he 90's, not so much right now. more documentaries, even dreaded reality tv might put some life in them

well they started fukking up by stop doing SPORTS CENTURY... i agree with repeat of the same sportscenter for like 6 straight hours..

and then why show highlights of game when u already give up who won by having it listed on the left side of the screen..

they invested to much into that state of the art studio and campus and not enough in the right programming
