it's not about cutting talent , most of that money is coming from production and possibly sports programming. a lot less mofo's gonna be going on the road/attending events, and they might have to give up some games which fs1, cbss, and nbcs will all gladly pay for
They have a lot of salary tied to wasteful talent so it would be quick to axe the dead wood and then figure out which shows to keep.

cricket is big in india and GB....that's not the US...ESPN's american broadcast shouldn't sink resources in something their audience doesn't care about. i don't follow soccer, but it seems like they have done a better job at getting soccer heads to cover it, so they're making strides. and i agree ATH and PTI are two shows i like, but the cover the same topics in damn near the same order. first take could easily be 1 hour as well, show is all filler

And India is a BILLION people....with a super fast growing US population...im not saying secure any rights i'm saying pronounce peoples names right and present the clips in a dope way....people STILL get exposed to alot of stuff through ESPN.

And as far as soccer goes...ESPN is horrid. ESPN FC is a trash show...im happy it exists but its a trash show. Only thing ESPN did that was legit was getting Ian Darke on contract to announce. But if you look at NBC's coverage of the EPL vs ABC's coverage of the last mens world cup and you will see NBC blows them out the water.

ESPN paid a boatload for the College Football Playoff and NBA renewal. That shyt right there is a hefty investment that would make anybody need to cut costs.

They definitely waste a lot of production money on shyt that's not needed though. The ESPY's are something that they'll continue to do though, despite them losing money on it annually, because if they don't do it another network will. So, they'll take that hit willingly.

Fox paid a lot of money for a lot of shyt that they might end up losing big money on too...but Univision and ESPN claim they're not too upset about losing the next couple of World Cups because of the time difference in Russia & the middle east likely affecting ratings and such.

But lord knows they waste money daily on a lot of the shyt up in Bristol, the man hours and the salaries they pay thousands of people to do the same shyt, the thousands of SportsCenter shows per year on multiple channels, etc.

Once Google and Apple start coming through bidding on league rights down the road...look out.

Just make WatchESPN a standalone app separate from cable companies and charge people $9.99 per month or something similar

And stop with all these repetitive opinionated shows

1 or 2 of them are fine but when your entire lineup is filled with shows all talking about the same shyt it turns people off

Thats the main reason why I stopped watching and im pretty sure all the other customers they lost will say the same thing

A WatchESPN app with all the extra channels(SEC Network; Texas Longhorns, etc) would be a good deal for $10 a month :leon:

MLB Network is hands down the best single sports network. Their coverage is 10x better than ESPNs.

I've said it multiple times, but I'd give just about anything to have them handle NBA TV. They have great stuff on MLB Network day and night. THAT is how you run a sports network.

they really should cut espn news out though. any big story breaks and espn covers the shyt on their main network, and their daily shows run all day keeping you abreast and talking ad naseam about the days news. who ever tunes into espn news when they arent airing a random college football game they dont have room for on the other networks? even espnu can become more mobile driven, and combine that with espn3

They ruined ESPNEWS when they went away from the original format: highlight shows every half hour. It was actually ahead of its time. Nothing but highlights and no filler. I always put it on ESPNEWS when I wanted to see what happened that day. Got right to the point.

Should have stuck to sports instead of deciding to become an "entertainment" channel.

:beli: People sill on this "a la carte" BS as if it would ultimately benefit them. Did you not read in the article where it said ESPN would have to charge at least $30 a la carte for it to balance out.

Trust me, you DO NOT WANT an a la carte model. Trust me.

more like 10 dollars
hbo did it

believe what espn tells you breh
