but it's fiction & that's the issue with him IMO

he's a diligent student of the game
a corny suburban youth who soaked his mental in the urban culture

I say it in almost every post bout this nikka
drake is a persona
it's a role he's writing for himself
the attempt to bury the cornball aubrey
and be the nikkas he looks up to

the rapper the pop star the neighborhood don the playboy
that's the perspective this shyt is written from

it's amazing from a songwriting and production selection stand point
but I always find my self very aware of the fact it's not all the way authentic:yeshrug:

I mean all rappers are fictional writers to a point
they all embellish the truth but at least in most cases they have a first hand account of their material
for aubrey his view is taken from lps and smack dvds
it's a well told second hand story*

What does this have to do with the song?

if we can talk about the song
it's fair game to talk about the artist who made it

I agreed with you about his standing as top flight writer in r&b/rap lane

cool*
If its entertainment, then all that matters is the song.

You can't listen to his history. You can only listen to the song.

I'm saying that you have to truly have loved women and felt emotional attachments to them that left you vulnerable to understand this shyt.

Its why Marvin's Room was such an amazing song. I don't trust anyone who never related to that.
Marvins room?
if you've ever loved a woman.
You don't go your separate ways and then call them drunk because they've moved on and are happy just to confuse them.

That's not love. That's acting like a little boy.

Its the emotion of the matter.

You may not have ever done it, as I certainly haven't, but i've damn sure felt that way.

You're lying if you haven't.

I was skipping through this track again and again and again when I was listening to the tape!! On my @FreshAIG shyt because I also don't like these Drake tracks at all. The mumbling and pedantic feel to them just fukks it up for me.
Until my now ex told me to listen to it carefully:mjcry:.
She was like: Ohh! Listen to jungle by Drake, you got his tape right? Reminded me of us. :jawalrus:
:patrice: *plays the track and pays attention*

"She said you're my everything
I love you through everything
I done did everything to her
She forgave me for everything, this a forever thing"

The shyt hit home like a mufukka, I wasn't ready for it. :wow: shyt got me laying on my back thinking about her for a while, which is what she was aiming for I guess.
"Glad we're still good, glad we're still good!" :mjcry:
