Drake probably my single fav artist right now. And I am fan of his music. his on mic persona. He seems like a legit fukkboi to me in person. I tihink because Im competitive as fukk and I think Id clash with this nikka cuz Id feel like I was better than the nikka but he keep winning cuz he keep getting oppurtunities and shyt. lol anyway...
I can understand how ppl dont fukk with his singing voice b. you gotta be able to understand that too. His singing has improved signifcantly since he started. He still sucks dikk live. But the production on his tracks be so dope that his voice comes out with unique electronic drakey tone that we are so accumstomed to now. But even I enjoy this voice (except for on Hold on where I thought his voice sounded unusually weak on there, song still grew on me though) you have to be able to recognize that his technical singing ability is by no means world class, or even top tier. But its charasmatic, which brings me to my second point...
I really don't think you can completely seperate talent and persona. You make it sound like it's possible to enjoy music even if you dont fukk with the artist at all. I would have to disagree with you on this point. Drake has a very divisive persona. Just as you are talking about how much you can relate to his words and you can feel the emotion in his music, I find it incredibly difficult to "feel" or "relate" to something that I interpret as disingenuous or inauthentic. To a certain degree elite or world class talent can supercede this, but sometimes no amount of talent can overcome this dissonance. When people say they just cant fukk with Drake on any level I completely understand. Even though he is well spoken, intelligent and charasmatic, he also comes across as broody, disingenuous and standoffish. To me, his talent can overcome the latter traits, sometimes. But this may not be the case for all.
I like some not all of Drizzy's RnB stuff. Shot for me is actually one of my favorite all time Drake songs because it holds a special place in my heart for a time I was going through in my life. I also IMMEDIATELY found it sonically appealing and lyrically relatable.
Jungle does not do this for me. I've been bumping this tape all-day, every day (that and Sean Don) and this song is a skipper for me. Becaue I'm a stan I'll give it some time and maybe it will grow on me, but initially I wasn't drawn to it. Sonically I thought it was cool but I felt like I'd heard it before and done better. Lyrically, honestly, I can't help but think that Drake is writing this about some dumb ass dirty stripper he flys out from Houston or some shyt. It's probably elitist of me, but when I think that this shyt is about Johnny Blaze or Maliah or even fukking Rihanna shyt just seems fake and scust to me. Save for Rihanna these women that this nikka croon about really be the scum of the earth thots. So when I hear him writing some of these simp lyrics about them, I can't engage in voluntary self-delusion that he might have shared a genuine connection with someone of substance.
So yeah, I dont fukk with this joint, yet. Maybe I will later. But this joint still a skipper for me. Dope ass sample thought and the original artist seems dope.

No I'm not. I often avoid threads of music I don't like. I saw this title never heard the song so I gave it a chance because I like when Drake raps and assumed he would be on this song. And of course he wasn't.
