So NYC is a Mets city based off 6 years ? How about the 60 years before the Mets existed ?

Again the Yankees after 65 only had the late 70's before it was back to the abyss up until 96 do you know that why do you think George hated Winfield lmao because he represented the Yankees in the 80's when the Mets ran thru and dominated them and had stars

They only time the Mets ran the city was in the 80's. That said that once every 7-8 years when the Mets are actually good there is a buzz in the city that you just don't get with the yanks

They don't understand in 2015 baseball was back in NYC, when the mets pop up it is wrap the buzz in the city is crazy Jenkee fans don't understand with that wack ass stadium in the Bronx they built.

Wilpons need to go so we can have that feeling back

You not understanding what I'm saying. The OP is saying that the city hasn't always exclusively belonged to the Yankees. I said that the Mets definitely ran the city from 1984-90. During the period that the city has had both the Mets and the Yanks, other than that period of 1984-90, it has been a Yankees town. And from what my pops told me about the city back in the day, the Dodgers and Giants was infinitely more popular than the Yankees, and that was even with them winning all the World Series.

Make the playoffs and a little noise twice a decade and think your relevant brehs...

Every NY team that has an "ETS" is irrelevant little brother...and I'm saying that as a Jets fan...

Both these bumass ETS teams going on 30+ years of losing...They're an embarrassment to NY...Break that L chains, win something for the city and then you can talk...Till then STFU and sit your 30+ year loser asses down...

It is not about runs the Mets outdrew the Yankees from 65 up until the 70's and then the 80's were close and the Mets outdrew them up until late 90's THESE ARE FACTS.... Yankees weren't really a powerhouse from 65 til 76 or 77 they were dead, and then after 81 it was a wrap for the Yankee til 96 after Seattle mess then it cameback , and even 99, 00 the city was rocking with the Mets but then Jeter had to shut that shyt down in the Subway Series and Clemons had to punk Piazza and then after 01 it was a wrap but if we had won in 06 man this shyt would have been different.

I feel what son is saying. The Mets defintely ran NY from 1984 to about 1990. Wasn't around for the World Series runs in 1969 and 1973 so obviously can't speak to that. From what I know, the Yanks were trash during those times, so it could possibly be that the Mets were the toast of the town then. After the Yanks started their run in 1996, it's pretty much been a wrap.
Maybe true. I was born in 87, started watched when I was 11-12, so all I know is Yankees dominance. :manny:
I do know that 27 >>> 2 though. :lolbron:
They only time the Mets ran the city was in the 80's. As long as the Wilpons own the Mets they couldn't run a parking lot, that said that once every 7-8 years when the Mets are actually good there is a buzz in the city that you just don't get with the yanks
Exactly. I'm going to fall back though.

Mets ran shyt in the 80s but that was it. Yankees were on the come up in 94 (probably woulda won a WS that season if not for the strike) and haven't looked back since. You only get the buzz with the Mets because their times of being good are far and few between.

New York has always been a Yankee Town. Even when they were bad in the 80s and early 90s they dominated tri-state airspace.
This seems like an agy Met fan thread

The Yankees have literally been a factor in every decade except the 80's. That's it.

World Series titles (27)
AL Pennants (40)

What is this thread REALLY about?

The truth is the city hops on the wave of whichever team is better at that particular point in time.

Its usually the Yankees but whenever the Mets happen to contend, watch how quickly orange and blue gear populate the public
