ESPN needs to stop talking New York Sports if they think NYC has always been a Yankee town

The only thing I have to add to this thread is that 2006 was the Mets' year. They definitely should have gotten to the World Series with all the talent they had.

Matter of fact, that was probably the last time both the Mets and Yankees were contenders at the same time. I think they both had the #1 seed in the playoffs.

Memories. :mjcry:

Same could be said about Yankees fans, or at least a good number of ya'll.... Mets fan can be minding their business, enjoying one of the rare periods of success or reasons to actually feel good about the team, and here comes Yankees fan to remind him that he has 27 World Series titles, like anyone asked him. I remember having to son quite a few on Facebook during the 2015 run to the World Series. We wasn't expecting that run, which made it so enjoyable, we celebrating with each other after a big win, and here comes a Yankees fan to pop off on some "yeah but we got 27 titles". We over here chilling, let us eat in peace... We ain't even thinking about ya'll right now....

There are shytty Yankees fans, just like every fanbase. The amount of Yankees fans that give a shyt about comparisons to the Mets is dwarfed by the amount of Mets fans who do the comparing. Literally every year that the Mets start off hot and the Yankees start off slow I consistently have to hear about who has the best record in NY...in May:snoop:

Exactly, I can't count how many people in middle School and high school that I had no idea we're even baseball fans until October rolled around. And it always cracked me up with Yanks fans, is we can't even enjoy the rare moments the Mets are actually good without be reminded about the 27 world championships. They get offended that we are Mets fans and don't dikk ride the Yanks and the Yanks mystique. For every douche bag 7 line esque fan, there 10 Mets fans that regret become Mets fans and are just waiting for the other shoe to drop and we can't leave because we have battered wife syndrome. I like when they have to remind us how much we suck, muthafukka I know we suck I openly wish death on the Wilpons, like wtf more do you want from us, the rare moments the Mets are good can we just enjoy without being reminded of what we already fukking know, the other shoe inevitably will always fukking drop

I'm an outsider but.........since the 1920's, the Yankees have won at least 2 championships in every single decade except the 80's and and the 2010's.

I could see the Mets being a little more popular when they are a contender but that's probably because they've had more down periods. NY Yankees also have a bigger national following, so maybe some NYers prefer a team that feels more "local" with fewer bandwagon fans. Maybe...I dunno. Yanks have been really damn dominant though.

Mets lol .sure if you from queens.

I did love the vibe at the old shea stadium .

Mets were good for a couple of times but I still remember that epic collapse where they had the 1 seed but ended up not making the playoffs.
