she makes a good point. lets not act like those dollars we are withdrawing for one day wont get spent the day after anyway. "im not buying christmas gifts but im gonna spend that money at footlocker" that does the exact same thing as Christmas shopping

this is a good idea but if it doesn't include a plan for us to take that withdrawn dollar and invest it into our own equity its only half of the solution.

Set it aside for a savings account, emergency fund, college fund, 401k etc it's not rocket science

This thread is embarrassing

the profit margin would already be damaged and prices would likely be slashed.

It costs nothing , involves 0 risk, doesn't demand any time or energy, and if people invest <10% of that spending power it can make a tangible difference.

You don't even have a list of demands :heh:

Instead Farrakhan is supposedly asking the US Gov, who isn't affected by this boycott, for land the size of california :rudy:

Nah.

Christmas is a great time to get with family and friends and spread the love.

We work hard all year, we should celebrate ourselves and each other. I can't wait to shower my family with my appreciation come December. :blessed:

Smh or you guys could stop being sheep and do your own thing. Everyday is a great day to shower your family with love but it's more important to be like everyone else.

people dont realize how easy an economic boycott is. you dont have to protest, march, vote, or be violent. you just have to NOT spend the little money you do have on your oppressor. It's actually crazy that so many have to be CONVINCED to save their money and use it wisely :dahell:

some of us are truly brainwashed :dahell:

That's pretty much what Martin Luther Koon said to do :mjpls:

We don't have to argue with anybody. We don't have to curse and go around acting bad with our words. We don't need any bricks and bottles. We don't need any Molotov cocktails. We just need to go around to these stores, and to these massive industries in our country, and say, "God sent us by here, to say to you that you're not treating his children right. And we've come by here to ask you to make the first item on your agenda fair treatment, where God's children are concerned. Now, if you are not prepared to do that, we do have an agenda that we must follow. And our agenda calls for withdrawing economic support from you."

Sound Reasoning
"Hey kids, no more gifts for you cause NOi said so"
:usure:

"Hey, kids. We have a confession to make. Your mother and I have been lying to you for your whole life. We've been telling you that Christmas is about gifts, eating all types of crappy food, getting drunk off egg nog, spending time with family members we really don't care about and overall, being tricks. But this year, we've decided that you deserve the truth.

Christmas, as we know and celebrate it, is supposedly about the birth of Jesus the Christ. Historically, that's not true, so again, we've lied to you about that as well. But in celebration of that "birth", we should celebrate each other and the love we have for one another. We should give to those less fortunate instead of hoarding meaningless trinkets for ourselves. We should teach you the importance of being the example that Jesus was in your own lives. But we've fallen short.

Also, as black people, we have an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Now, we're n#ggas, so we've also lied to you about Jesus as well. No, he's not white. And no, he wasn't some p*ssy who let people take advantage of him. No, the real image of Jesus the Christ was that of a revolutionary. One who directly challenged the leaders of his own people, the Jews, for sucking up to the Romans in exchange for meaningless title. Think of Al Sharpton. And one who was not afraid to die for his beliefs at the hands of the oppressors of his people, the Romans, if that would move forward his people and his ideology. Think of MLK and Malcolm X.

With all that said, Jesus knew the importance of taking a stand. And since this year will be about emulating Jesus, we'll be taking a stand as well. In the time of Jesus, his people, the Jews, were living under a form of colonialism or Jim Crow. The same way our people have been living ever since we've been brought to this country. Jesus fought back via his message and certain acts that challenged the status quo. Our family will do the same by not supporting the economy that oppresses us during this holiday season. We will be Christ-like and take a stand against injustice.

In years past, we pretended to celebrate Christmas for the right reasons, but this year we will do just that. We will celebrate Jesus for the real person he was, a political revolutionary who changed the scope of human history, so much so that a religion was created around his ideologies. So, no video games or Jordan this year. But they're will be plenty of laughter, plenty of family and plenty of coordinated political action during this holiday season."

Peace

Who said anything about being a sheep?

I'm doing my own thing with my family. My kids love the holiday time, as do I.

How are people not seeing this? They don't even have a list of demands nor are any of these coli brehs organizing anyone in their actual community. 2 things MLK ALWAYS did.

black love, unity, and music
Alotta simple ass nikkas in this thread :snoop:

If not buying a bunch of stupid shyt which in turn feeds the same machine that you claim is "oppressing" you is an "unrealistic" request and too much to ask...than i guess all this police violence and systematic racism that you claim is so rife and such a hinderance to our collective progress is not really not all that big of a deal, where you can't even make a slight alteration to your life which entails something as simple as not putting money in the pockets of the same crackas that you claim hate you for things that you don't even need. :stopitslime:
dapped and repped.

A lot of fukking dumb nikkas in this thread. Most of them are too far gone to help though
