He's not going top 10.
- small for a QB
- doesn't play in a pro style offense
- hasn't shown great accuracy throwing the ball downfield
Those are big demerits.
The bolded is the biggest issue. The Clemson offense is pretty screen heavy isnt it?

I'm guessing next years starter will be drafted in round 1 2017. Roster will be blown up after the season.
Cutler or Romo. Woody likes names and there are no big names or franchise saviors in this draft
They can't justify taking a qb from this draft who's a few years away while their 2nd round pick is also a few years away

If Hackenberg is too much of a project to play now when the team has the worst QB situation in football then he just plain sucks. Every other QB drafted last year has gotten meaningful snaps. Him and Petty arent playing because they probably suck that badly(which isnt a surprise, as both were bad prospects).
Maccagnan has really no choice but to go QB and hope for the best to save his job. It's the only way the Jets can show any promise next season...
None of the qbs are even gonna grade out at first rounders this draft never mind top 5 except maybe the unc qb
I know teams reach for qbs and why they do it but in this draft it would be an extreme ass reach to draft one top 5
That's my point. And I'm not looking to shyt on Watson. I think he can be a successful pro; but he's not coming in here and hitting the ground running. He's gonna need time to get acclimated to a pro style offense and that simply takes time. I would have no issue if they took him in round 2 or even traded back into round 1 to snag him.
My bets on who the QB will be starting week 1 next year are(in order of likelyhood):
- Cutler
- Fitzpatrick
- Romo
- Petty
If Fitzpatrick didn't call out the FO and ownership earlier in the year, I really think that he would be back no questions asked in 2017
You may be right. I'm just looking at it through the eyes of a GM and HC who are going to try and save their jobs. Maccagnan's FA splurge and trading picks for players and selling it as "competitive rebuild" has backfired.
Revis
Marshall
Harris
Clady
These are guys who are certainly not back next season.
I agree with Cutler at the top. I think Woody wants Romo the most but I think he's gonna want to go to Denver where there a qb away from a title

I'm all for a rebuild I just don't see Woody going for it
He's gonna tell the gm in the offseason make the playoffs next year or your fired
Yeah, Romo can easily go to Arizona or Denver and make them a championship contender. Houston too, but they've got 19M tied up next year in Oz. The only reason I give the Jets a bit of a chance is the Cowboys might not want to trade Romo inside the conference and have it come back to bite them in the ass if he beats them in the playoffs or something
But the Jets with Cutler at QB, Marshall at WR and Forte at RB... it's recreating the 2011 Chicago Bears 6 years later. because they were so successful
Only the Jets![]()
Chicago franchises in 2016I'm guessing next years starter will be drafted in round 1 2017. Roster will be blown up after the season.
Reason I say Fitz is the possibility that they go at least 3-3 or 4-2 and they decide to bring him back again because there's no better option. I was with the "best chance to win" gang this season but after his performance this season I regret that.
If they go .500 at least the rest of the way and beat the Patriots once and he takes a huge paycut, I don't think it's impossible that he will be back here. Even under the guise of "backup qb while we groom the 1st rounder"
