Regardless of your thoughts on the QB situation its pretty irrelevant to the long term out look of this regime. There has been a chain reaction of stupid decisions by this organization since the fans went overboard on the previous GM.

Reality check- Maccganans drafts havent been all that great either.

Maccagnan hasn't drafted anyone nearly as bad as Milliner.

and not for nothin, if we kept your boy Idzik, not only would Geno be starting, he'd be here long term.

The 2013 draft, specifically the first round was terrible. And he also got probably the best or second best player in the first round 4 picks later in Richardson. Grading GM's on a pick by pick basis is ridiculous and if you did it for everyone no one would have a job. Idzik's strength, which seems to be Maccganans weakness at the moment is he has zero concept of value. The Cromartie, Skrine, Gilchrist, Harris and Revis contracts all illustrate a guy who's a novice.

As far as Geno I had no issues with the pick, but its doubtful he'd be here longterm. Not sure were you're getting that. He got benched multiple times and was overall bad his two years he played. He's not on scholarship.

Making the playoffs as I've alluded to is a stupid benchmark to begin with. Rex and Sanchez both made the playoffs twice and both sucked at their jobs. The Redskins and Texans made the playoffs last year.

If Pittsburgh loses Week 17 last year we make the playoffs. Why is this the benchmark?

Anytime when pressed, you say that metric is stupid.

Two answers in a nutshell. With the way the Jets are currently constructed, with all the money locked into veteran players- Fitzpatrick is the best QB to play and gives you the best chance to compensate for a bad secondary and the best chance to "make the playoffs" and have a watchable offense for the 8 home games that Woodys worried about.

Long term the overall outlook for the team with all of these veteran contracts and not a lot of young talent should be a major concern. So yeah I disagree with Maccagnans overall approach to date but it's easy to see why Fitz is the QB.

Under woodys tenure making the playoffs has generally been bad for the Jets tbh.

Troubled tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins already has a mentor in the New York Jets' locker room: Brandon Marshall.

The Jets know signing Austin Seferian-Jenkins is a calculated risk, but the potential payoff doesn't seem worth the baggage that comes with him.

When the star wide receiver learned Seferian-Jenkins was arrested for DUI last Friday, resulting in his release from theTampa Bay Buccaneers, he called immediately -- before the Jets claimed him on waivers.

"We've been talking for a while. He's a great talent," Marshall told reporters Tuesday at a charity event in Manhattan. "When I heard [Monday] we claimed him, I was like, 'This is God-sent.' If he needs me, I'm there. I've already connected him with the right people in the city if he needs them."

"Guys need second chances. When you make a mistake, it doesn't mean you are a bad person. You need people to believe in you, and sometimes a fresh start is a good start."

Brandon Marshall, on Austin Seferian-Jenkins

The Jets don't have any proven pass-catching tight ends, so they decided to take a chance on Seferian-Jenkins, who also had a DUI arrest in 2013 while playing for the University of Washington. Last week's arrest produced an embarrassing dash-cam video from a police car in Tampa, Florida.

Team officials have yet to comment on Seferian-Jenkins.

"Guys need second chances," Marshall said. "When you make a mistake, it doesn't mean you are a bad person. You need people to believe in you, and sometimes a fresh start is a good start."

Marshall speaks from experience. He has been arrested several times and was traded by three teams. He was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and created his own foundation -- 375 Project -- to raise mental health awareness.

"I would say this: We don't know if those are his issues," Marshall said of Seferian-Jenkins. "I had a DUI before. And you live and you learn. There are a lot of people that make terrible decisions, but it doesn't make them terrible people."

Gotta salute b marsh. :salute:Guy turned his life around and is paying it forward. People deserve the chance to turn things around. Hopefully this guy does so.

Who the media made B Marshall out to be and who he was on arrival and has continued to be are way different people. That dude is a real blessing on this roster and no one deserves a post season more.

There's one player who might be even more outstanding, though. Jets defensive back Marcus Williams has been a part-time player under Todd Bowles over the past two seasons, but he has been ridiculously productive. Williams has eight interceptions since the start of the 2015 season despite lining up for just 249 pass attempts, about 34 percent of Peters' opportunities. He has intercepted 3.1 percent of the passes he has seen since the beginning of last season. To put that in perspective: You know how Peters has 12 interceptions over that timespan? If Williams played the same number of snaps and intercepted throws at the same rate he has with the Jets, he would have 22 picks. That's unreal.

To use a raw number representing a typical workload, Williams is intercepting 16 passes per 500 pass attempts faced. After Williams and Peters, there's a huge drop-off to free-agent corner Trumaine McBride (6.3 picks per 500 attempts), Raiders safety Reggie Nelson (6.1), and Rams corner Trumaine Johnson (5.9). Peters' former teammate in Kansas City, Marcus Cooper, has 8.8 interceptions per 500 attempts in a much smaller sample.
