Got to talk on the phone to my mom in August for the first time since I was 3 or 4. Found out I had three younger brothers. Spent the summer in Little Rock with the two brothers I knew I had at the time. The three of us went to go see Life when it came out that summer...
That was the highlight of '99 for me. I remember Wanna Be A Baller was my lil bro favorite song, we went bowling alot, the Y2K rumors were heavy, I got the Willenium album by Will Smith as a Chrisymas gift (lol)...
I also think this is the year Anaconda with J. Lo and Ice Cube came out, J. Lo had me instantly! The rest of '99 was unimpressive, it isn't a great year for hip hop or music in general, not a Top 5 year in the 90s. I remember No Limit was a big deal too, and Juvenile and Cash Money blew up but my older relatives was No Limit Soldiers lmao...
'99 wasn't all that, definitely don't miss it. But it is amazing to now have memories from 20 years ago...
