Yeah I said it. :birdman:

What's the cause of this obsession that's been constant ever since S*HH? Why do folk feel the need to stretch the legend of both these players? Is it just a reflection of the coli's demographic - where their rise to stardom coincided with the period of time, when the majority of the board were at an impressionable age - making A.I. and T-Mac no more than some ol' right-place-right-time ass nikkas? Are single mother households to blame? Was it because they hated Kobe? Was it because they felt related to Iverson's regular size ass and wanted to live vicariously through him with their unattainable hoop dreams? Or was it because McGrady had better peripheral vision than the normal human being?

You're right that T-Mac's prime wasn't very long, and he probably was never a credible MVP candidate, but you can't say that about Iverson. A.I. was a truly prolific scorer for years and years. He willed a garbage team to the Finals, won an MVP, and finished top 25 in career scoring in NBA history -- ahead of Larry Bird and Charles Barkley, to name a few. The man is a Hall of Famer.

I'm not questioning their talent - but both of them are OVERRATED (and I hate using the word) on here like no other(s). Every single year since I can remember, there's been thread after thread where folk are desperately trying to revive some kind of childhood/teenage memory. Gassin' them up with either these now-unwarranted comparisons (A.I., T-Mac vs 'insert a player that's unquestionably better') and trips in their time machine just to intentionally gloss over their careers.

Why do they do this is the question?
