Gentrification is so foul. Man gets his rent increased from 1200 a month to 2750 a month.

This is why I hate apartments. I mean this dude could save up that rent money for half a year for a down payment on a cheap condo he would own and could avoid this (cheap condo's exist in Inglewood, right?).
Man if I found the life hack where I don’t need a place to live:wow:

Dunno...my crib is in the middle of the hood and was a fixer upper. But more and more white people are moving in. So we can do the proverbial math.

What makes it worse is I don't even live there, I live in Chicago now for work...its a fixer upper and I have my nephew as the caretaker in it. And it's making less sense for me to keep the crib.

What part of philly?

Lots of people here have no respect for homeowners...I understand being ethical and having balance and being fair with tenants

But to act like homeowners are rich and don't have to deal with increased costs like property taxes and could possibly be scraping by as well

Many landlords live in duplexes and rent out one unit to be able to afford the home and property taxes ....do they not have bills to pay and a family to feed?

Nah, it wont. Its gonna get worse. I wont turn this into a real estate debate, but there is a bigger trend people are ignoring. Overpopulation in cities hasnt been an issue in this country until this decade. Look at most major cities across the world, the sprawl & surrounding suburbs are the hoods.

More & more people are opting for dense city housing because who wants to commute 3 hours a day? For a log time only east coast cities had this problem. I dont see this trend bucking. Quality of life is important, but its costing a premium.

How much equity so far? If the property taxes are going up the house value is also going up at a comparable rate.

Which is interesting but troubling thing to witness.Sure living in the city comes with convenience but the quality of life is not really ideal as a means for long term living. When millennials start to reach retirement age you are going to see another shift.

Overpopulation. Thata the bottom line

Humanity gotta figure out how to generate income WITHOUT leaving the house. Cause its looking almost as bad as China with these traffic jams.
Not overpopulation, maldistribution of population.
The US is not at risk of overpopulation.

How much can my landlord raise my rent? | HCIDLA

There is a clause that allows substantial rent increases above the normal 3-10% when improvements are needed to be made to the building for overall "community investment". Chances are the new stadium in combination with all the other development made this allowable.
This is how Trump pocketed his father's money, hike up the price for "investment" that he was supplying, and overcharge.

that's not an overcharge, if he's investing in upgrading the unit it's actually fair. You're renting not owning...if I put $1m into a house that you were renting for $600 a month , why wouldn't I raise the rent?
