Gentrification is so foul. Man gets his rent increased from 1200 a month to 2750 a month.

Sometimes these cacs use eminent domain
You're given payment in the case of eminent domain. Depends on your state as well, Connecticut has a much broader policy for it than Ohio and California.
Breh, Demoncrats let international banks buy up the hood for kick backs you can’t track. You young cats better start studying your odds instead of studying me.
nikka what? The political party doesn't control whether or not wealthy investors want to purchase property.
pretty sure if he could afford to own a home he would have
You'd be surprised, a lot of people apparently prefer renting to purchasing.

that's not an overcharge, if he's investing in upgrading the unit it's actually fair. You're renting not owning...if I put $1m into a house that you were renting for $600 a month , why wouldn't I raise the rent?
The repairs weren't necessary, he was funneling money from his father's accounts, marking up product he already owned, sometimes double, then earmarking even more funds to cover the costs of labor and materials that he'd already inflated for the unnecessary repairs. He pocketed the cash smoothly, and then raised the rent prices off of repairs that didn't cost him any money (economically).

Nah, it wont. Its gonna get worse. I wont turn this into a real estate debate, but there is a bigger trend people are ignoring. Overpopulation in cities hasnt been an issue in this country until this decade. Look at most major cities across the world, the sprawl & surrounding suburbs are the hoods.

More & more people are opting for dense city housing because who wants to commute 3 hours a day? For a log time only east coast cities had this problem. I dont see this trend bucking. Quality of life is important, but its costing a premium.

Better to figure out how to generate income without leaving the house while living in the burbs raising your kids with fresh food and fresh air to breathe. Plus jobs are too centered around major urban areas, which cause greater breakdown of infrastructure

yeah cause its a 20-25 year commitment if u not working a career type job u dont know if u gonna be able to keep up with payments

Back in the day, people paid houses in a huge one-time payment in large sums of cash, and owned it for life. Banks got too much power as it is.

white leadership in action. all across the nation the same thing is happening in most every inner city, yet we haven't heard any white people talking about it. no congressmen, nothing local. hell, you wouldn't even know who to go talk to about it. same as eugenics. while we debate the petty shyt they're making the major moves.

and that's how real politics works. while we watch debates on cnn, white folks make their moves in silence and keep on moving. they started gentrifying the eastside of ft. worth back in 97. now they're on the eastside of austin and san antonio, buying everything up and moving white people in.

Animal Farm is a critique of the Soviet Union, not socialism or communism, I'm sure you didn't know that.
Democrats are neoliberal, and they err on the "Left edge" of neoliberal.
The Republican's cutting down of collective action and power, union membership as a whole, free-market policy and legislation, capped immigration targeting "desirable" immigrants, anti-cooperative legislation, and and a variety of early 20th century housing policy is the reason behind the issues.
I read the article, its not an indictment on Democrats as a whole, its an indictment of the lack of progressive and anti-capitalist action on the part of Democratic leadership that tends to have more free reign in the the most diverse (and subsequently, wealthiest) cities in the US.

Gentrification is one of the biggest and most talked about issues consistently across academia, mainstream media, and political fora.

This is true, unfortunately.
Shorter mortgages cost more money and are more out of reach for those who are lower income.
