How am I showing my age? Did I say that Kendrick was the first to do it? No, I didn't. And before you go implying that I did, look at my reference to NWA and Public Enemy.

That's not business as usual. There's a lot of songs that could've been used in those protests. They chose "Alright" because they were inspired by it, which is a part of being impactful.

Uhhhhhhh......

That's business as usual in hip hop culture. Not sure how that alters anything.

We chose fukk the police?

To each his own I guess :yeshrug: but I'm not really seeing how this is altering anything

Can somebody

Anybody

Come tell me the difference between

Impact and influence ??

This @JustCKing guy is just reaching for the stars with this

Kendrick has a bigger impact but less influence

Like nikka what's the difference

Kendrick impacted kids to do right ..

Gucci influenced kids to drink lean lol

Impact I guess is good ? Influence is bad ?

Kendrick sucka dikk!

Because there's a difference between an artist influencing individual rappers and someone who's music has influence on entire genre and not just the genre, but movements beyond Hip Hop.

Because, when you look at Hip Hop as a culture, it's not everyday that people gravitate to a songs like that. There's a reason for that.

And what makes this whole exchange even more :what:is that I never said that Gucci didn't have ANY impact. As a matter of fact, I gave him props. It may not have been the response that many was looking for, but it's my opinion based on my observations of his career from '04 to present. Then you have posters in here straight up saying Kendrick had no impact.

How do you compare a Trap Rapper to a Conscious open-toed sandal rapper?

That's like trying to compare Pablo Escobar to Ghandi lol

Kendrick Lamar is just a rapper, Gucci is a legend, an icon and an idol.

We're still talking Gucci influencing one artist vs. Kendrick altering the genre. "Control" wasn't even Kendrick's song and it warranted responses and reactions from everywhere. Then you have TPAB, which whether you loved or hated it, was also something that altered Hip Hop.

And no influencing Future isn't the biggest impact on the game.
