get out your feelings.

Kendrick has no legacy as he's done nothing to solidify a "Legacy"
he has no impact because he just doesn't.

Gucci Mane has a Legacy, all be it a street and goon one. he has one. and his music reflects and supports this fact
Gucci has way more impact in rap and american culture than Kendrick.

I don't know of anyone saying they want to be Kendrick, but you had the entire ATL not only screaming Free Gucci but all doing their best to fill the void Gucci left when he was locked up.

you disagree because you in your feelings, Kendrick has time to be all that you want but as of right now he's not there and no where near there.

Don't tell me to get out of my feelings, because it's not me who is so much in my feelings that cannot read or comprehend. I've already given Gucci credit for his legacy. That part of my initial post is being overlooked because I'm not here going on and on about Gucci's children, and him being this larger than life icon. Stop the stanning and read.

To say Kendrick has no impact "because he just doesn't" is the epitome of someone being a stan and refusing to give credit and acknowledge something just because it doesn't jive with their narrative. It's not the first time I've seen it. It's not even the first time, I've seen a Gucci fan downplay one artist just to big him up.

What impact on American culture does Gucci Mane have?

Breh, these fickle fans were the same ones screaming "Free Boosie" and you had all these people on the bandwagon. Where are they now?

And for the record, I could really care all that much about Kendrick or Gucci. TPAB is the only Kendrick project that I really like, and even with that, there's things about him that are off-putting stylistically for me to be a fan like that.

Gucci Mane has always had a cult following. And it's not like in '09, there wasn't a huge industry push to make Gucci a star.

And yes, Kendrick has songs that mean something on the streets. Again, one of his songs is an anthem of protests against police brutality.
lmao gucci was NEVER pushed like Kendrick, never ever.
He was hot and people was fukking with it.

Gucci had a push and it didn't just come from him being "hot". There's a difference between him making songs like "Freaky Girl" and "I Might Be" to him making songs like "Spotlight" and "Gucci Tyme". There's a reason that whole era of his career didn't take off.

What difference? Being signed to warner, getting a feature from usher?
He was never pushed like kendrick, nowhere close.
Gucci has the streets
Kendrick has white boys whom go to festivals every year.

Kendrick has the bigger impact and legacy, gucci is just more influential.

Let's keep it all the way 100. When Kendrick does shyt the rap game listens. When wack ass Control drop, the rap industry responded and Kendrick was still fresh in the game too. People were awaiting the BET hiphop awards a few years back just for the TDE cypher because he was gonna take shots at drake. His music does well commercially and is highly acclaimed critically. TPAB broke streaming records the first day it hit the internet. People across all age groups pay attention to Kendrick.

Gucci is on the other end of the spectrum. People only seem to care when he's either locked up or getting out of jail. And even with that publicity his music pretty much never moves units. He had no impact commercially or critically, just another rapper. A niche rapper at that, with niche fans. Even during his infamous twitter rant he was pretty much ignored afterward and treated like he was just out of his mind, straight leper status. Musically, only the south and young internet nikkas are checking for him so he'll never have impact there.

He's definitely more influential than kendrick though but that's for reasons bigger than the both of them. Kendrick is well spoken, smart, conflicted, thoughtful and contemplative. nikkas don't wanna be like Kendrick. Gucci represents what dudes think they "relate" to and what aspire to be as fukked up as that sounds. So that's why these dudes are more likely to be influenced by a gucci or even a chief keef. .Even tho 7/10 times they're more likely to have more in common with a kendrick type of dude: someone who's black, knows the hood and the mindset, has been near/around the streets but isn't a street nikka etc. And on top of that Gucci's music is infinitely easier to replicate than Kendrick's so it's easy to see that influence on a bunch of young rappers

But gucci caught bodies, stayed high out of his mind everyday, sold crack and has violent mood swings so ignorant mfs relate to that because they want to. :manny: That's what made it so hilarious cause nikkas was so dissapointed about him coming out of jail trying to stay sober & clear headed that they said he'd been cloned and replaced. :dead:

Whether he was pushed like Kendrick or not, isn't the issue. He was pushed.

Dumbest line of reasoning in rap discussions by far. If Gucci had the choice he'd be preforming festivals every night.

Only on the coli is touring at hole in the wall hood clubs your whole career treated as some sort of win. :dead:
