Damn you think so flea. But then again I wasn't your average honor student. I wasn't a nerd. I dressed nice and I played sports and I was a fool in class and made students and teachers laugh. And a few of my friends use to bang in highschool. I had friends who were in the one way gang,spiffy gang and a couple in Sliver Star gang.You ever been to the orlando fair when its in town at the fairgrounds by Barnett . If you have you know how when it gets dark a lot of nigguhs out there start fights and what not. A lot of those cats I grew up with . Don't really talk to them like that no more though.

Well I'm Hispanic and went to majority black schools so I had a target to begin with but shyt was rough for the smart kids at these schools man. They'd be the kids who get randomly decked in the face just because their book bags are strapped too tight. To be "cool" at the schools I went to u pretty much had to be a savage. And like a fool I fell in line and did the same my younger siblings went to private school and sometimes I wonder how'd I turned out if I did the same

Bruh be happy u grew up in orlando, this absolutely would NOT have happened in dade. Having advanced classes pretty much put a target on your back. I'm glad I had regular classes

Meh. Not surprised. I teach in a Title I school and can vouch for this type of mentality. Kids will always be lazy if adults let them. But a lot of blk kids have internalized this mentality that learning or being academically successful is somehow betraying ur community, or race. "You trying to act white."
I hear it all the time. I literally have access to IQ scores of students on my caseload. I have blk students with IQ scores in the above average range who are literally failing every class (partially b/c public ed is some shyt) b/c they don't want people to know how smart they are.

These days blk children have to make a harsh social decision between being alienated from their community or not taking school seriously. That shift starts to happen around the end of 6th grade.
