Can we blame Hip Hop culture or white supremacy? How about the parents?
I'm a fan of blaming everybody, kids included. Lmao!
bell hooks (one of those evil womanists) put forth one of the best analysis of the hip hop industry to date. She described it as a vicious cycle where talented artists have little control over their brand. Radio stations owned by the powerful control what gets airtime. So even if they did buck the system you would never hear them. So talented artists become slaves of an industry that requires them to actually hide their intelligence and produce bullshyt that is shoved down people's throats if they turn on any radio or tv. So what's available to the masses is what is deemed popular and demanded, thus fueling the necessity of the production of more trash.
So yeah hip hop is to blame but not in the way most are imagining. I'm not completely absolving individual artists of the blame but I'm not going to ignore the pressure to c00nify the art form that is hip hop.
Mass consumption of a false subculture that has been superimposed unto the blk community is the problem. Blks are now wholesale identifying this nonsense with blk culture just as white people want them to.
We went from a group of people who would risk death and torture to teach each other how to read by the light of the moon, to a group of people who will degrade a blk woman if she has an advanced degree or beat up a blk boy for making the honor roll.
Every lie THEY have told about us is being accepted AND glorified in our community. EVERYBODY, artists, rich and powerful whites who created the hegemony, ignorant entitled kids, lazy scared ass parents, sorry political figures who ruin the educational system, absent fathers, irresponsible baby mamas, racists, bedwenches, c00ns...EVERYBODY can get a lil bit of this blame cake.
Open fukking wide.
