Everyone has what works for them. I should have clarified in meat I meant fish, chicken, not red meat which I agree is no good for weight loss.
As far as cardio, empty stomach cardio only is very effective. When I cut down in spring time it works great. Step mill, medium intensity, watch the pounds melt.
Six balanced portion meals, and a couple of protein shakes and you're gonna be just fine.

There is no template for every single person. But the basics I outlined are simple to follow and for the most part have been effective.
