The truth is that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis hired a company to help them get their music into stores. That company, Alternative Distribution Alliance, is an arm of Warner Music Group, one of the most major of the major labels.

They key word in there, and the key difference between a Macklemore and an artists on a major label is that Macklemore HIRED (i.e. paid the label) to market and promote them, they aren't signed to shyt though.

I don't see how this is so hard to comprehend.

Major racks... thats GOT to be the ONLY he's as successful as he is... he's not that good of a rapper. The only reason i would think other than him paying out of his own pockets for his success is his positive gay-friendly music. Now those who bout to come for me, think about it.

i personally think we don't get the full story, no successful artist are going to tell you what the machine really does for them behind close doors, they'll tell you the outer layer of their success, but not the deep roots of it
