I have never seen anyone look down on smart kids in the black schools I went to.

I tested into a good school when I was in 8th grade, and went to hood schools LATER.
All that shyt you complaining about means nothing to a nikka who had higher highs and lower lows...but in reverse.
Expensive unisex academic military academy down to a feeder school for at risk kids.
From rich cacs and mexicacs to pregnant hoes and a metal detector in a whole new city, state, and region.
You won't hear shyt from me...I got called ****** nearly every day in that "good school" and got into hella fights.
Never caught one fade at the "hood charter school where all the bad kids who got kicked out go".
I could rap, so I was good.
I skipped 2 grades, got put on to hustling, and got ENLIGHTENED that same year.


I was living with the homies then.
Life comes at you fast.
One year you a private school nerd, the next you're off the porch and on your own.

The reason to complain is that it was still happening to others who didn’t get out and still happens. I was an outlier.

We shyt on young men pursuing knowledge then confused on why more boys don't Excell in school.

I hate to say it but I had this exact same mentality. No way was I going back to th3 hood to get a mate. Completely turned off. Granted I didn’t marry out but my wife never saw the hood.

It has zero to do with any of that shyt. It comes down to putting greater value on Whiteness than Blackness. I grew up on the West Side of Chicago in the 80's and 90's. Nobody shamed somebody for being smart. Nobody shamed Black people for knowing about African history or African American history. Nobody was shamed for being good at math or science. Nobody was shamed for going to HBCUs. Nobody was shamed for going to any college or university. People were shamed for thinking that White people or acting like White people was better than being from Black people.

So once again people are making up a bunch of shyt.

I think the situation is more nuanced than that.

If a kid from a neighborhood like that goes to the local schools, isn't in any type of special programs. hangs out with the neighborhood kids, etc. then he's not going to catch any flak.

It's the kids that are in special programs, going to elite private/charter schools, hanging with kids that are in the same programs, doing what they have to do to stay out of trouble, that I've seen get negative treatment. I know a chick that got jumped for going to private school, when everybody else in the hood was going to the local school, and she was minding her own business, not talking smack or anything.

It's not purely based on getting clowned or dissed because you're intelligent, but when either your intelligence or pursuit of studies separates you from them in some form, many kids be on that "oh, you think you're better than us" vibe, even if the kid is minding their own business. A kid that is elite in intelligence and is pursuing the best education he/she can get, has to go extra to show that they are down (i.e. playing a typical sport or instrument, being super pro-black, etc.), or they will catch some BS from someone.
