Impossible for a guard to shine alongside the most ball dominant guard in NBA history. Even Harden had to come off the bench because he couldn't get enough touches.

When you have a player monopolizing possession, pounding the ball into oblivion, taking all the shots & passing only to get assists you're simply going to struggle.

This might be a controversial opinion but I have always believed that the concept of "franchise player" is flawed. Majority of second, third and even fourth option on nba teams can put up great numbers if given the green light to take unlimited shots. I bet many experts thought harden wasn't a "franchise player" before leaving okc.

usually when a player's shot attempts goes up so does his productivity. it's not rocket science. we watched carmelo anthony and Iverson jack up shots and shoot inefficiently as a number one option for years, That's not so difficult to replicate. The difference sometimes between a "role player" and a "franchise player" is shot attempts.

Calling Oladipo a viable 2nd option on a team that wants to contend in the playoffs is damn near laughable

And calling him the Jeff Green of SG's (Oladipo has his flaws but he not that bad breh lmao) is disrespectful

Oladipo is based served as a 4th option and just focusing on his defense

It's really based on the eye test , Granger was in the same position as Carmelo ... A scoring SF who did really nothing else but people were quick to say Melo is a superstar and a franchise player while the Pacers by 2010 were looking to trade him

Obviously some players are better and more talented than others but I believe many players are underrated in this league and can put up great numbers if given the chance.

What gets to me is when people make comments like "player A only averages 10 ppg i.e he's a role player, ability wise" without context, what they also fail to mention is, that same player A only attempts 6 - 8 shots per game, maybe even less

Did I read this dude @The Dankster say Oladipo could be a good #2 option? :dead:

Patrick Beverley
Tim Hardaway
Aaron Gordon
Reggie Jackson
Dion Waiters
Brandon Ingram
Lauri Markkanen
Marco Bellinelli
DeMarre Carroll
Jeremy Lamb
Eric Bledsoe
Will Barton
Ricky Rubio
Bogdan Bogdanavic
J.J. Barea
Darren Collison

Are over half of the #2 options in the NBA as we speak. Some of those are obviously debatable, but that's irrelevant because the other choices are guys who aren't any better anyway.

There are a lot of names on that list who are no better than Oladipo. I can pick out about 5 playoff teams with a #2 who is no better than Oladipo. A team build around defense, rebounding, and a strong primary ballhandler/scorer could certainly use Oladipo as their #2 option and succeed. Lebron would have loved to have someone like Oladipo in 2015.

p.s. - where the hell you get "4th option" from? The 2016 Warriors who set the season record for wins had fukking Draymond Green as their #3 option on offense, and lost in the Finals to a team whose #3 was a concussed and ineffective Kevin Love. And Oladipo isn't a spot-up shooter, he's a guy that likes to create off of the dribble and movement. Why would you drop him to #4 when there's clearly ways he could fit as a #2 or #3 on a good team?

I would damn near pay a not so insignificant sum of money to have Victor fukking olapido be LeBron's 2nd option... Just to see your opinion of him do a complete 180
