the problem with BS IT programs is that the industry moves way too fast for most curriculum to stay relevant. like I bet most Windows server classes in any BS IT program right now are referencing server 2008 while in the real world, server 2016 is about to release
how hard are these cert test.
is it like civil engineering test hard ?
if it is civil engineering test hard, don't act like everyone can do it.

Fair enough, I think security puts in more brain power on a broader spectrumWhen I was in school it was way worse than that. The programs didn't even prepare for an entry level position. I specialized in networking when I was in school and in 5 years we had 2 relevant networking classes. One on Windows and one on CCNA level material. The Windows class barely touched on AD and didn't even mention Exchange, virtualization, or System Center. All the shyt a Windows engineer would be responsible for and 90% of it was never even brought up.
The Cisco class was even worse as the professor couldn't even create a fukking vlan in the lab without a looking up the command
I tested out of both them classes then proceeded to drop out the next year.

keep thinking thatI work in tech. Aside from testing our site to see if shyt's actually broken, this is literally all I do all day (with other equally mundane issues).
Them: I can't log in
Me:Did you try reseting your password?
Them: Where do I do that?
Me:Where is says "reset my password"
Them: I tried that, it didn't work
Me: Fine, I just went in and reset if for you
Them:Thank you so much, you're the greatest!
Me:
Them: The video player doesn't work for me
Me: Hit this link, I wanna see what that system looks like
Them: Internet Explorer on Windows 94, is that bad?
Me:
Eta: That said, I worked from home all week. I usually show up to the office at 10:30 and wear headphones the entire day while no one really bothers meNice work if you can get it
What school was this?![]()
University of Cincinnati. And it wasn't just that school either. Once I peeped game I was going to transfer to OSU, looked at their program and it was even worse than UC's. I looked up maybe 6 or 7 top CS programs in the country and none of them prepared you for an entry level job.
You must have never heard of Penn StateMakes more money too![]()
