Yo guys I just got my network + degree yesterday :blessed::blessed:

So what should I do now??? If I apply to jobs I should get in with this shyt on my resume right and how much should I say I want salery like 100gs:smugfavre: this is my first feet :obama:

Go to the IT thread and ask there. And you're not getting 100k with just a network+. You'd be lucky to crack 40k unless you already have a year or 2 of experience.

As I am in IT as a Sys Admin, jeezus it is stressful working for an enterprise-level entity. No Google bs, when a network is down, or the primary company app is on the fritz, they aren't calling the main help line, they are calling you directly, anytime. College, boot camp, etc. will not prepare you for IT unless you do IT, just like watching boxing doesn't allow you the ability to scrap with Cotto.

I don't think it's fun or easy trying to convince managers to spend 30k for a new generator for their unshielded data center which will cost them a minimum 100k a day in revenue once lightning hit kills their 15 year old router.

It isn't fun managing an environment where previous admins quit or were fired due to poor design or cheap business cacs skimping out on cost in care of quality.

It isn't fun when your Jr. Sys admins deploy an update that breaks critical bus apps that worked in the sandbox weeks before. Guess who has to fix it Sunday night?

It goes:
IT Director
Systems
Help Desk/Desktop
Call Center

Guess who is the glue? Sys admins, so we in IT are always putting out first, developing/patching, or maintaining systems....

Success breeds envy...Medical IT is the wave of our immediate future as private docs and hospitals are updating and installing technology centers to squeeze the max amount of money from customer, err patients ahem. Sorry to convert their paper records to EMR (electronic medical records). Can you IT haters figure out what could cause EMR to crash sporadically in one office, but not the other? Or why hundreds users at various patient center lose SQL DB connection, but still have network connection?

Boo hoo you have it so hard you deserve 100gs+ a year fukk outta here

I've worked for Home Depot and AT&T and no degree required. Been contacted by recruiters from Microsoft, Cisco, and Progressive Insurance for various roles. Once again, no degree required.

I have an email in my inbox right now for a job at T-Mobile. Pays $95/hr, no degree required.

Reading is fundamental. I said it's easier to get an entry level position with a college degree. Now if you have experience, then a degree matters less especially for "technical" IT position.

But if you walk into an IT shop right now or a consulting firm, most people will have a college degree. The higher up you go in the company, the more people will have a college degree or higher.

This is just a fact. I do campus recruiting and interview people for my company.

be a recruiter in IT and think you know anything about the industry brehs

I'm not a recruiter fukk boy. Learn how to read. I'm a consultant at one of the Big Four consulting firms. I have 12 years experience in the industry and have always worked for top tier firms where people come from top tier schools like Emory and Harvard. I interview people who have been selected by our recruiters. This is common in the consulting industry.

I have led several multi-million dollar plus ERP implementation projects. I'm currently working on one now. I work with senior IT clients (Managers and Directors) on the daily.

I know what the fukk i'm talking about and have the experience to back it up.

What have you done?

IT is probably one of the easiest jobs out there once you progress past a certain point. My day consist of meetings, listening to vendors, lunch with vars, and occasionally working on projects. The only hard part is the grind to pull away from the pack when you are at a Helpdesk/admin level. That was a lot of studying, labbing, and researching. But once you separate yourself it's smooth sailing. Our lead security admin is such a fraud and he's making 135k. That's not a ton for security in healthcare but he literally knows nothing except how to BS in meetings.

If anybody is interested in the path I took and the areas in the data center that are worth learning to progress the fastest, hit me up.

I got a friend who drives garbage trucks and he talks down on me because I don't have a real job like him. :francis:
