Real talks I think it's a low self esteem issue. Lots of young black males have to fight the feeling of being considered the lower end of society. Making fun of them, dismissing them, etc only further contributes to that.

They don't feel as though their lives are valued. They don't feel they have a chance at a real prosperous future. That's why they live on the edge and die young. The thought of living long is near unfathomable.

Their first mistake is having interest in chicks whom the hood shyt appeals to. I always tell people if you associate with garbage then you may unknowingly be turning yourself into garbage.

I KNOW a few people that are so called "hood" but i keep them at a distance. My relationship with them is "whats up" *daps* and thats it. You'r enot getting in my car and you're not coming to where i live, period.

Problem is, these kids are literally trapped. If your school is filled with ratchet hoes that love these GBE inspired dudes that ain't about shyt, you can't exactly get up and move to another school. These teens especially think that the whole world is ratchet as shyt because they never been exposed to any better.

I'm trying to work with some people to get a program going that helps black men and women get GEDs and into college. Is there a way I can request funding so I don't have to blow all my finances?

I'm a 22yo Canadian. We have different systems.

But what about making a business or of this somehow?

I dropped out of school because there was no way I could put up with commuting and I didn't trust my parents to support me while I studied.

Maybe start a business that runs housing, comminuting etc, that could support people while they focus on studying? You could get a loan for that. But I'm not a financial advisor. And I doubt your making profit from this.

You'd have to start another business to fund supporting students. Possibly one that can also employ these student when they aren't studying.

It's a real issue. We feel like we have to be a part of "the culture". Even I'm touched and tainted by it.

I blame the sensationalizing of the ratchet lifestyle and lost hoes that chase those type of dude. I grew up with other black folk that were more fortunate than me, that still ended up being dropouts for the sake of high school fame and to get popular with the hoes.
