I bet most of the nikkas saying "Still DRE wasn't that big" weren't even fukking 10 years old when that record dropped. :mjlol:

Still DRE was HUGE. I was at a east coast college then and you heard it everywhere you went.

right, still dre was massive. dre and em were pretty much connected and eminem OWNED MTV and TRL around that time.

and why y'all dudes always gotta bring up wu tang in everything smh

When the Wu seemed down and out and this shyt dropped :wow:

ive never see this in my life.

Triumph wasn't big out here, not gonna downplay its impact elsewhere, but this song was never played on the radio, we didn't go to school discussing triumph, of course it never made any party playlist, that was just another video on the box :manny:

it wasnt a daytime radio single anywhere. not even on the east coast. earliest it would get played was in that 6-8pm slot. same with "reunited".

it was more of a hip-hop thing, even tho mtv was crazy about it.

i dont know why its being discussed tho. thats not a comeback record. more like a last hurrah.

ok. understandable. i just have a different recollection of it. maybe it's because i was at a big east coast school. but that shyt was playing everywhere. radio. parties. not to mention i had it on heavy rotation.

yea i know where youre coming from but im speaking on the core.

yea im sure it got burn at college parties but no real east coast parties were playing that.

not saying the song wasnt good, its just that frats arent a represnetation of hip-hop at all.

smh yall forgot how much Dre the artist was playing 2nd fiddle to Eminem.

"You really gunna take advice from someone who slapped Dee Barnes"

:russ:

Man, I remember this video, back when I was checking for em...I made this guy a year younger than me buy me this cd because he was coming to the high school I was at and wanted to be down lol.

Damn, it's only been 16 years and no fukking way could this be a single now. We're moving backward with censorship

ehh.

alot of the coli will be pissed but this arguably isnt even the biggest comeback single of that school year.

504 boyz wobble wobble had a bigger wave.

How you gonna diss any of those? Total, 112, mase, missy, ginuwine, aaliyah, I'm bout it soundtrack...classics

youre abusing the word "classic" with most of those selections.

Sometimes these billboard stats don't make sense.
Still Dre peaked at 93 - but went 4 times platinum
It reminds me of If I Ruled the World peaking in the 40s to 50s but It Was Written being the #1 album in the country behind it.

im not a chart guy myself.

but youre forgetting that "next episode" & "forgot about dre" were much bigger singles than "still dre".

i'd say that "street dreams" was at least more hyped than "if i ruled the world".

I know, but the content, rape, domestic violence, slipping shyt in her drink....I mean Em had outrage back then, but the social media justice warriors would hardbody that song out of all rotation.

I wasn't thinking R&B. I hated everything Missy related in 97. Mase I copped the album...but it was a bad sign of things to come. I copped a lot of No Limit albums in 97 including TRU, Ghetto D and the Bout it Soundtrack. Fast food rap. :yeshrug:
97 was a big let down compared to 96 hip hop wise.
CNN though :wow:
LAD :wow:
Wu Tang :wow:

I can see you're biased...nothing wrong with that, but you clearly had/have a higher regard for a certain type of rap.
