I can see you're biased...nothing wrong with that, but you clearly had/have a higher regard for a certain type of rap.
I think I liked all hip hop, all regions, pre 97 a lot more than I do post 97. :yeshrug:
I loved the South when it was Geto Boys, the Diary, Kast, and though I wasn't up on them at the time, Ball and G and UGK.
When it switched over to No Limit in 97 I lost interest.
Funny enough, I think Master P's bay area shyt is classic. :lolbron:
I think a lot of bay area and LA shyt pre 97 (when both regions fell off) is classic. :yeshrug:
40 Water :wow:
Mac Mall :wow:
JT :wow:
West Coast Bad Boyz 1:wow:
I could go on

Gotta give LL the nod based on the fact his was more of a comeback, but in terms of quality,Still D.R.E got it:blessed:

Both were apart of classic albums though, and both were part of a successful "comeback".

I would like to add

as well as Guess Who's Back:banderas:,not actually a comeback technically, but I think it introduced Scarface to a newer generation of people, and bought him back into mainstream relevance with that Fix album which is also classic..

My Block=Still Dre>>>Mama Said Knock You Out.

Also gotta pay homage to this:obama:

And Bandz from Juicy J was part of a successful comeback run for him,3-6 Mafia might have a few of these actually:russ:

I actually miss the times an artist would drop a massive comeback single to get people hyped for an album and finally go to the local cd store to cop it. Surprise releases like Compton don't really hype up

Sometimes these billboard stats don't make sense.
Still Dre peaked at 93 - but went 4 times platinum :patrice:
It reminds me of If I Ruled the World peaking in the 40s to 50s but It Was Written being the #1 album in the country behind it. :patrice:

billboard isnt really and accurate measure of popularity... its a measure of radio play... which sometimes align and sometimes doesnt...

I bet most of the nikkas saying "Still DRE wasn't that big" weren't even fukking 10 years old when that record dropped. :mjlol:

Still DRE was HUGE. I was at a east coast college then and you heard it everywhere you went.

It's Still Dre, that was not only Dre Comeback but it was the whole Left Coast Comeback, he had the pressure of the whole coast on his back, the first single had to set the tone and let the world know The West is back, The excitement and build up was monumental.....

When that song dropped and when we heard that Piano stab we was like :scust: it was so shytty that you threw on that face, it was so ill, then Snoop came in talking that talk :banderas:then the drums, bassline and the violins all dropped at the same time :damn:, man it was a wrap the west returned, it was straight Cali.....

That album was a West Coast Reunion album and introduce y'all to new west coast talent

The aftermath of 2001 west went on a streak

Dre brought us back :mjcry:

this is revisionist.

cuz snoop & xzibit's "bi*ch please"(produced by dre) was the song that set it off months beforehand, and it was bigger than "still dre".

the media basically wrote it out the books because of whose dime it was on, and whose dime it wasnt on.

TBH, there wasnt much that came out of this anyway.
