Its a damn shame that we, black people have to actually PROTECT OURSELVES from this beautiful art form that we created. Think about it. No matter what side you're on in this debate, we all agree on 1 thing: that we must shield/protect our youth from its destructive messages.

How sad is that? Hiphop has the potential to be one of our greatest assets. It has the ability to uplift, motivate, educate and inspire. But instead it promotes and glorifies hatred/division amongst ourselves. It promotes giving away our money to white/foreign owned companies. It glorifies being lean sipping, perc popping junkies. It glorifies the gang lifestyle. It glorifies selling drugs to each other. Hiphop culture has become a detriment and a weapon AGAINST us.

To control a mass group of people you must gain control of their MINDS and how they feel about themselves, and that's exactly what the hijacking of hip-hop has contributed to. It is helping to CONTINUE the same mindset that's KEEPING us in the position we're in. Do y'all not understand this???? Everything that white supremacy thrives on, hip-hop culture makes seem "cool". For example, extreme materialism. Hiphop culture tells us to spend frivoulously on white/foreign owned companies. To "make it rain" This is by design. Amerikkka NEEDS black people to be materialistic and not support each other. We should have BEEN putting our $$$ into black owned banks and practicing group economics. We haven't because our MINDS haven't been conditioned to do so. It hasn't been made to seem "cool".

I'm glad more and more of us are starting to see the light. The rest of you got a loooong way to go.

I will be honest, you are right. I was watching some hip hop videos, I enjoyed the brat music but its obvious every brotha in that video was lost but on the other I grew up on it, went to inner city schools and turned out fine. To me its a good beat n music but I could see a lot of young black men feeling the pressure to fit that image.
Hip hop influences fashion( since when do nikkas dye their hair, that would have got you clowned) so it can influence behavior.
