funny shyt is Jay has probably kicked more knowledge in his music than Nas ever will

Right. It's the most ironic thing about the entire situation that many rap fans are too dumb to see. Jay-Z's B Sides are some of the most intelligent rap songs ever. I.e. Allure, This Life Forever, Most Kings, Soon You'll Understand, his verse on Shiny Suit Theory, etc. Hov basically took intelligence/knowledge and clothed it in an ignorant shell that made listeners feel like they were listening to rap songs about bytches money and cars, but when you grow up and really listen you'll see how insightful he really was/is as an MC.

Nas is a legend but a lot of his post It Was Written work was forced ass "knowledge" diatribes that he tried to make into rap songs (the trash beats didn't help). He was always better when he was rapping about his block (Illmatic) or when he was on his mafioso shyt (It Was Written) but nobody wanted to hear Nas give us a lesson on Egypt. The shyt was mad forced. And all that pseudo intelligence Nas spit on his albums obviously never translated to success outside the music. If Nas is so smart and Jay-Z is just a shallow rapper than why is one way more successful and acquires way more capital than the one who is supposed to be the smart one?

And save the "because smart nikkas don't win in this world" argument because that doesn't even pertain to this situation

Yeah there was a point in time where it seemed like Nas was learning new things he was reading in books and felt obligated to rap about it

I been peeped that and I was young as hell.. Jay tried to play that I got more bread and cooler than u card.. nikkas wanna blame the south for rap but low key jigga man influenced the shyt...

Actual factual. I think Hov is (was) great, I just hate the nig for trying to tear down my nig, even tho he got ate while trying, ha. Whenever Hov tries to go the pro black, positivity route that shyt sounds madd
disingenuous, madd formulaic and off

I always assumed that line was calling Nas a "smart dumb nikka"

The line in BP2 "Just because he wear a kufi don't mean that he bright" put it in context for me...

exactly "what yu TRYING to kick knowledge"
Jay-Z first album alone had a conscious level to it, so it seemed Nas was forcing it
