:dead: at Kareem saying he would have used social media. The guy went out of his way to be an aloof dikkhead. Same story with Barry Bonds, he has made several comments about not understanding why he's hated but it was exactly what he asked for his whole career. He didn't want people to get to know him, he wanted people to stay the fukk out of his business. It shouldn't be that difficult to understand.

speaking of bonds i just found out the other day he has a instagram
and only 22,000 followers :heh:

Barry L Bonds (@blbonds25) • Instagram photos and videos

he seems to be enjoying life though

In recent years, Abdul-Jabbar has turned his attention toward the Internet, where he has found an unexpected role among the online commentariat. He has written on Lena Dunham, Ferguson, the body-shaming Serena Williams has endured, the Charleston shootings and Donald Trump. (Trump recently responded to one of Abdul-Jabbar’s columns by printing it out and writing across the text with a marker: ‘‘Kareem: Now I know why the press always treated you so badly. ... You don’t have a clue about life and what has to be done to make America great again! Best wishes.’’) A bit stiff and laden with quotations from Toni Morrison and Ernest Hemingway, the columns demonstrate a change in Abdul-Jabbar’s politics: He has become a pragmatist who sees the path toward ‘‘racial harmony’’ as a continuum along which one is either moving forward or moving backward. His column on Rachel Dolezal, the N.A.A.C.P. chapter president who deceived people into thinking she was a black woman, struck a conciliatory tone. ‘‘She has been fighting the fight for several years and seemingly doing a first-rate job,’’ Abdul-Jabbar wrote. ‘‘Bottom line: The black community is better off because of her efforts.

And he was only 20 years old in that photo. The average 20 year old athlete today is too concerned with hurting their white sponsors feelings.

He acts the same way now. If he had Twitter, the account would be private and he'd deny everyone that tried to follow him. You can't push everyone away and refuse to let anyone in your circle and then complain that you're not getting jobs and no one is close to you. Randy Johnson is also a tall antisocial dikkhead and he is also confused why people don't take to him, so I don't think race is the answer here. Some people just want an on/off switch with the world.
I don't think he pushes everyone away. He pushes certain people away at certain times. And it gets perceived as him not wanting to be around ANY one. Let's face it, there's still alot of D-bag fans, trolls, and racist in 2015. There's also plenty of sports writers and the like who only live to twist your words. You're right tho, Randy Johnson seems to not be liked much for the same reasons as Kareem. There's nothing d-baggish about wanting an off and on switch to the world. Honestly, you have people getting police called on them for lesser forms of "street harassment" than what tall aloof guys like Kareem and Randy Johnson have to go through in regards to rowdy fans and trolls. Their aloofness and anti-sociable attitudes don't necessarily make them dikkheads. I don't think they go out of there way to not talk to people.

good read....and his comment on Magic, while probably not needing to be said, wasn't a shot at Magic as a person.

He clearly dislikes white people tho it seems. lol
But to be someone who grew up in his time and had his negative experiences, that's his prerogative.

Some peoples brains just aren't wired to simply accept the unfair way this world is.

I feel sad for Kareem. Seems like he saw a lot of rotten shyt when he was young and experienced some of it too, and is just not an outgoing guy. He's not wrong, but he seems to have a hard time relating to people and to be very uncomfortable in his own skin as a guy who stands out so much in a crowd at his size. That living alone part at 68 made me sad to hear.
