I'm confused. Macklemore makes decent music, but I hate the fact that he's labeled as a rapper, when he doesn't 'rap' to hip hop fans, he raps to pop fans, but he raps.

Is he rap or pop?

agree 100%,fuk the Grammys I might be guilty of rubbing it in Nas stans faces that he don't have one...but really I could give a shyt and I wont be watching just to see two nikkas I know perform the whole night if we lucky.

That's black folks for u though,downplaying anything black owned as if its bootleg..nikkas do it on here all the time in regards to hiphop acting like being hot in the streets means nothing,or that famous "people still watch BET(or BET awards)"...but will sit around watching these white shows full of bullshyt you don't even understand and never breakdown the quality....ill give the benefit of the doubt and take it to mean u don't care about the white shows but care about the black ones,and that's why you so hard on em...but if u care,try acting like it or at least ignorantly hate on the white shows too just becuz u don't know whats goin on,cacs do it to us all the time

What bothers me is the fact that black artists often skip Black award shows like BET Hip Hop or Soul Train but yet break their neck to go to the VMAs and Grammys inspite of the fact that they don't even respect hip hop. VMA's showed us what they truly think of us and we already know about the Grammys and their history

I hate seeing this too. Although I don't agree with the favoritism artists show to the VMA's and Grammys, artists break their neck for the VMA's and Grammys for exposure and the sales spike they get from performing and/or winning.

the rap judges that's part of the grammy committee didn't want to put him in the rap committee I read,but powers that be butted in and vetoed that bcuz they didn't feel like it made sense...didn't LMFAO win a rap award at the Grammys...of course u think Macklemore is hiphop...and by comparison I guess he is

i would say BET need to start callin these nikkas out,but since they owned by the same people who own MTV I guess they don't have the power to point out the bullshyt no more....BET aint really ours no more but it would be nice if nikkas still pretend like it is and care enuff to attend awards and complain about the bullshyt,theyd rather complain about MTV list and Complex list...maybe its time to just acknowledge its all the same beast and give up.

They would definitely have the grounds to call out artists for not attending. Year after year, their nominations list is released and it's obvious that they've gone above and beyond to nominate acts (and even give them the award) for them not to show up. The BET Awards, not even the one that's exclusive to Hip Hop, really is treated like the EBT Awards. Over the years, there's been some legendary performances on there, but it's still treated like it's a lightweight awards show.

The same with the Soul Train Awards. It's more legendary than the BET Awards, yet hardly anyone shows up. It's cool that artists we wouldn't normally see perform on an awards show get their shine (K. Michelle, any Braxton whose first name isn't Toni), but some of the bigger names act like they never watched Soul Train on Saturday dreaming they could perform on that stage.
