The nfl salary cap is too low for the amount of money they generate.....thats their whole point.
NFL
13 billion / 32 = 406,250,000. If things are evenly distributed among teams this is what each team would get. 406,250,000/53 (the number of players on a team) = 7,665,094.34. That leaves an average of
7.7 million per player. No bills have been paid yet either.
NBA
5 billion / 30 = 166,666,666. Making the same assumptions as above. 166,666,666/15 =
11,1 million per player. Again, no bills have been paid.
I'm not gonna pretend to know the operating costs of the nfl or the nba. If operating costs are equal there's not enough money to give nfl players nba money. They need to downsize the rosters. Players in the nfl are more likely to get guaranteed contracts.
