i think people acting like drake never touches a pen and lays around waiting for people to deliver him fully crafted songs are :comeon:

i checked out the reference track, which tons of artists use/have. compare it to the finished song, it sounded to me like drake took the best parts of whatever quentin did, and then added on top. he didnt take any of the wack lines Q had, and nothing drake added to it was weaker than what Q had.

if drizzy just took exactly what Q wrote, song woulda been a flop. if Q dropped 10 bandz without drake, using his own version? flop.

'you make it a hot line, i make it a hot song' type shyt.

at most, that just means that drake is more of a producer than an actual lyrical miracle on the track. oh no. :comeon:

either way, ghostwriting seems like a sweet gig, id do that shyt and never make a peep as long as my checks were right:feedme:

This is what it really comes down to. It's just a part of music. At the end of the day, most people just want "their song/anthem."

Few people really care about the merit/authenticity details of it. Meaning as long as the artist has a big chunk of the writing/creativity themselves, they're fine. If they had assistance for some verses, even if the catchy part of the song wasn't their's/written by them, it doesn't matter to the majority of the population.

Some of the best parts of an artist's catalog are features from other artists anyways.

Also even if an artist doesn't write their own stuff, they convey something even stronger and that's the emotion and the sound of their voice.

Drake is going to continue to say how dope he is, some will bat an eye, but at the end of the day if it's a jam this whole fiasco will blow over on a major scale. Some pockets of people will side eye the bar/line, but most cats won't care. shyt is just a part of music.

end of the day meek comes off as some kind of emo thug in need of a hug

Im pretty sure Drake can write and is not just a team of writers....But 40 pretty much admitted tjat Drake will take nikkas songs, redo them, and give that song exposure that the artist rapping on it cant....Because they dont have natural gifts as a emcee or the promo:comeon:....The fact 40 said that tells me its not just 1 song....only god knows how many:wow:

He gets songs submitted to him, likes it,and instead of just taking the beat and hook he might take the verses:scust:....Drake and Quentin could just be a duo like the Clipse if he likes his songwriting so much, but has he even put the man on a song:mjlol:

Now that I think of it some of the references Drake would make in some songs didn't make sense coming from a kid from suburban Toronto... I just chalked it up to him being really worldly and perceptive (qualities that most great writers have) but now I'm not sure..

Little lines like "Coolin out in South Gwinnett like Lou Will" were probably written by n1ggas that grew up outside of metro Atlanta.. It's such a specific reference to a small area in the boonies that nobody that just visits or lives in Atlanta city limits would think of...Or was Drake such a fan of Blue Chip basketball in the mid 2000s that he followed Lou William's high school career as a young child actor in Canada?
Or maybe Lou will went to South Gwinnett high school and that's how he's announced for introductions in the arena
well the weekend said he wrote HEAVY on take care so :usure:
No he didn't say that.

Yeah, 40's response wasn't really that good of a deflection on Drake's "process" for me either.

Where would you rank Cube if I told you that Del The Funky Homosapien wrote some of his shyt?

What Lupe is sayin is common fukking sense, people have been exchanging ideas and writing for each other for a while and regardless of how much you may or may not like it some of the greatest Hip Hop moments wouldn't exist if we completely took that off the table.

He's riding the fence because the issue isn't black or white. Del writing songs for Cube doesn't negate the fact that he is an MC with a legit skillset and resume....he PUT IN WORK.

The thing about Drake is he doesn't have a lot of history to fall back on. With full reference tracks coming out for a rapper who is supposedly "the best" and in the running with other artists for ranking it's very easy to imagine a scenario where he's just a face.

:sas2:

Yeah I know Del probably wrote some shyt for O'Shea. He stole from Cypress Hill, too. He made it hotter than what it otherwise was though :manny: His legacy is solid though. Can't debate that.

Rick Ross & Lupe are two of the greatest ghost writers to do it...

This has always been the reason Snoop is in my top 10 and he isn't top 3 when his impact on music culture is clearly top 3.

Snoop had all kinds of assistance but Snoop's freestyling, flows, and understanding of soulful music alone add to his strengths as an overall musician but I can't make him top 3-5 off that alone when I know the DOC was helping me craft a lot of his rhymes.

Keep in mind The Chronic is basically a Snoop album brehs

Ghost writing has always been apart of the culture
