Objectively speaking this ramble by Lupe, while articulate, fails to address the true issue at hand...
Should Drake's credibility as a rapper be done?
These lukewarm responses by established premier MCs got me thinking a lot of these rapper ghostin and don't want to ruffle too many feathers in fear of being exposes themselves.![]()
Yup, it's almost as if it's a pandora's box or cold war of nukes and there was just an unwritten rule in hip-hop to not expose what really goes on in studio sessions.
We all know about Dre, Puffy, Kanye ... but we can fall back on the fact we enjoy them more as producers or guys with an "ear for a hit".
We all heard the Nas-Jay-Elec-Untitled Album and Jay-Z-Lupe-Black Album rumors, but we shrugged it off because they each had huge catalogs of work and a classic under their belt.
But this one about Drake is different since he doesn't have a huge catalog and it's during his ascension/peak of his career, not the later downslide where it's kind of "acceptable".
This makes me wonder about basically every rapper who had/have a crew-label-artists around them, but the other rappers never got albums or only got indy releases.
I'm very curious how this all plays out in the end ...
with what essentially amounts to a fantasy scenario.
