After hearing that reference 10 Band track... :patrice:

For me, I never saw Drake as one of the best lyrical MCs... but I did think he was on top of the game when it came to the hooks/flows and creative choruses for his hits. If he's really getting shyt spoon fed to him like that song where everything that I mentioned is bought by him, then it matters to me at least. Makes me think, how many of these songs where the hooks grab you off bat weren't created by him.

well the weekend said he wrote HEAVY on take care so :usure:

Stop acting like you don't know who Mike Elizondo is :snoop:

Mike Elizondo Interview - Writing Hits for Eminem and 50 Cent

Man what are you talking about :mindblown:

in the same fukking link you posted the dude was talking about writing music :dahell:

He said 50 took no time to write the lyrics to the song :what:

Am i missing something breh?

"Dre & I] actually wrote the track six months before, but the artist we were working on at the time passed on it,’ recalled Elizondo. ‘But we felt strongly about the track, so we stashed it away until we played it for 50 (Cent). He loved it, and he fiercely started writing the lyrics. About an hour later, 50 had written the entire lyric. He came back in the room and started singing (the now famous intro) ‘Go Shorty, it’s your birthday, we’re gonna party like, it’s your birthday’.’ Notably, ‘In Da Club’ also turned out to be the first cut which Elizondo received a production credit with Dr. Dre. He is now credited as producer (with Dr. Dre) on all of their cuts together."

"We had two rooms going; one room where we would write the music,
and another room where Em would write to the tracks. He ended up writing nine, complete songs in just two weeks, which was amazing. One of the songs we did was ‘Just Lose It,’ and another was Em’s political song, ‘Mosh’.’

How did you miss all this in a link you posted :damn:

@SunZoo :wtf: man i just can't today breh

2015 and people still treating rap and rapper as real? :dahell:
its entrertainment ...................adele doesnt write all her songs doesnt affect my enjoyment of it

true rap is a bit different but i really dont care if its a collabarative effort or solo

you telling me that ghostface came up with everyrhyme on his own? Biggie Jay etc no .......as an artist u take inspiration from experiences//input and make it yours

This is what it really comes down to. It's just a part of music. At the end of the day, most people just want "their song/anthem."

Few people really care about the merit/authenticity details of it. Meaning as long as the artist has a big chunk of the writing/creativity themselves, they're fine. If they had assistance for some verses, even if the catchy part of the song wasn't their's/written by them, it doesn't matter to the majority of the population.

Some of the best parts of an artist's catalog are features from other artists anyways.

Also even if an artist doesn't write their own stuff, they convey something even stronger and that's the emotion and the sound of their voice.

Drake is going to continue to say how dope he is, some will bat an eye, but at the end of the day if it's a jam this whole fiasco will blow over on a major scale. Some pockets of people will side eye the bar/line, but most cats won't care. shyt is just a part of music.

Rick Ross been talkin' that boss shyt since port of miami... That was back in 05'- 06' and meek had those dreads back then. I'm thinking lupe slyly said meek was in the studio spitting a reference track that relates to rick ross.

Dreams and nightmares dropped around October 2012. Ross had the song "Boss" featuring Dre(cool&dre) and that was on port of miami which dropped around august 2006. Trilla dropped in 2008 and it had the single "the boss" featuring T Pain.
