My theory is everyone remembers the 86, no one really remembers much about the yanks teams that won

I dont remember anything about those late 90s yankee teams,there is nothing interesting that stands out about them...Where as the 86 Mets team always will highlighted as one of the GOAT moments in WS history because of the Buckner thing but also because they had personalities (Straw,Doc,Carter,HoJo)

Nobody remembers a cot damn thing about Scott Brosius and Shane Spencer...

Most memorable thing about the Jeter yankee teams is the 2003 Boone HR in the ALCS,a year they didnt win it all...

That's revisionist shyt though....ALL OF NY was rooting for the Mets in that series.....I get it, those were dark times for the Yanks but I dont recall anyone rooting against the Mets in 86....the whole city was theirs....AND they were playing Boston....any Yankee fan rooting for Boston against us is a fukkboy, plain and simple

No all of NY was not rooting for the Muts in that series...

I remember 86 very well...The Muts were the toast of the town in 86 and everybody knows NY is a bandwagon city...but no Yankee fan was rooting for the Muts in 86...that was the worst series for us...

There is no you root for the NY team when it comes to baseball...It's anybody but the shyt stain the dodgers and giants left in queens and it will always be that way...

So nobody remembers 1998 when the Yankees steamrolled over every team in their way without a Murderer's Row type lineup. 114-48 that's straight domination we will probably never see again in baseball

I think he means individual moment that really stand out. I just remember them demolishing teams.

Football is not like baseball in NY...Baseball has always been a more passionate sport in this city...Yankees, Dodgers and Giants were big rivals...They played each other often and the fans disliked each other on some gangs of NY shyt...The Muts are what the Dodgers and Giants left behind...

With the football teams the Giants and Jets were in complete different leagues before the merger...They never played each other hence why there is no bad blood build up...Jets fans that hate the Giants are jealous and tend to suffer from little brother syndrome aka Muts fans...

I always root for the Giants when the Jets aren't in the playoffs...I have even been to their parade...Its different with baseball though and always has been...

The Yankee fans I know old enough to remember really hated the 1986 team , not that they had reason to root against them in the world series given their opponent.

They were mad Mets owned the city in those days.

But I hear ya.....dont want to derail the thread -- some Yankees fans dont like the Mets (you're one of them) and some treat them as little brother and dont mind them
MOST Mets fans dont like the Yanks and thats based on what you stated above....jealousy and little brother syndrome
