Mental illness continues to be looked over in the black community

Met a 24 year old lady who was diagnosed as being bipolar when she was younger, the father wanted her to get help while the mother objected. The parents actually split up over the issue as her behavior in school got worse and they kept arguing over how to resolve it. Once the father left the household, the mother basically kept the girl in church as a remedy to the issue. Obviously, it didn't work.
