One thing I had to learn the hard way is to never tell anyone your goals

1. They are your dreams/goals that are unique to YOU. No one can ever see your point of view better than yourself. Someone criticizing your goals is just their interpretation of your perception. It's like holding a pair of binoculars viewing something miles away and they are giving their opinion of what they think you saw

2. Telling someone your goals is basically telling that person that you're not sure of yourself. I used to do this alot when I was finding and thinking what career path I wanted to go to. I would tell my siblings and friends literally every step of my thought patterns. Like I was literally looking for affirmation, "You think that's good right?" :lupe:

3. You end up living to fulfill that person's expectation instead of fulfilling your own. Now you're at that new job or taking that college class for them. Any roadblock you experience is gonna feel like you're failing yourself as well as them. All that stress and anxiety for no reason. Keeping shyt to yourself and blazing your own trail is like driving on the highway with no traffic at sunrise, it's pure freedom :ahh:

I'm the only one who knows my secrets to being successful, and it feels amazing:banderas:

I agree with the OP somewhat, when you tell people who don't share you same exact vision or who aren't in any position to give constructive advice will always find a way to shyt on you or wish for your demise.

Best thing to do is to find a mentor and have them guide you. A mentor has been where you've been and most likely help you avoid time and money costing mistakes that they made while reaching their goals.

This is great.

However, there's a strategy in telling certain people at certain times in certain places what your goals are as they can be instrumental in turning your dreams into reality.

This true only if your weak minded

If asked, and only if asked I will share what I'm trying to achieve...
My goals are based on my ambitions, wether you agree with it or not is YOUR OPINION,
However it will have absolutely no impact on weather I pursue or not.
My time, family, and financial state are the only thing that dictates what I do, not people's opinions.

Why does it matter? :I don't see a problem. :ld:

What you wrote down basically sounds like insecurities. If you're confidant in who you are and what you want to do, there's no problem. :birdman:

I have to disagree. All these reasons sound like you (the general you) take the opinions of others way too seriously and will waver at resistance. I think you should tell people your goals and gravitate towards like-minded individuals.

DEFINITELY never tell your boss/higher ups your goals, if it involves you leaving the company or doing something of your own full time.
Had lunch with some coworkers and the CEO of the company i work for. He turns to me and asks "So where do you see yourself in years down the road?"
i hit the ":mjpls: well I want to continue in the position i am at now and get better and better every day."
but in my head im like ":mjlol: ima start my own business and GTFO here. Oh, and your old white ass is payin for lunch :youngsabo:"
