Not as present as in Take Care and NWTS because Drake admits the album was rushed and it wasnt really the album he wanted to make but heres a few
His verse here
This track
And honestly thats the most of it on this album...the rest he's either just straight spitting with the "default" flow, or singing
But as I said..admittedly Drake has said this album was rushed so I can see why it turned out the way it did and why most consider this his worst project
Now we are getting places.
So, we can agree it on that it was not so present on his first album. And we can see an improvement of his song making abilities and focus on cadence. He also is trying to get out his comfort zone and do new types of songs and not repeat the same formula over and over again (Even tho I think he's still using the same formula underneath most of the times). I also think its refreshing to a degree when most rappers use the same flow over and over again so that every song sounds like a remake of their old shyt.
But that doesn't mean that he understands it better then anyone else. Like I pointed out in my first post. Kendrick has been doing this for ages. And I also think he have mastered it in a way that is so original that I cant think of another rapper that is doing it the way he's doing it in hiphop. Kendrick also reinvents the way he is using his cadence so often that his old style of doing it never becomes old. It's even more impressive when you think of that he got a "weak" rapper voice. Many rappers wouldn't get away with that voice, but Kendricks use of cadence, flow, rhyme pattern and way of writing is so good you stop thinking about it.
I can agree with some posters on here that say his voice sometimes comes of as a alien-voice. But you cant pull of a new way of flowing/using cadence every time when you reinvent the way you do it in the rate Kendrick is doing. I for example hated his bytch dont kill my vibe chorus voice at first. But I enjoy it now.
Even tho Drake is emphasizing and stretching words, using harmonizing as a part of his flow and using different cadences on songs its not on the level of Kendricks. He have just implemented what singers have been doing for ages while singing into his flow. So even when he uses a new flow it sounds familiar and doesn't surprise you. It almost becomes repetitive in the same way as a rapper that uses a monotone flow over and over again. Only difference is the listeners preference. I do enjoy Drake sometimes but most often its when he is using his "normal" flow like on Lord knows, Tuscan leather and Too much.
So to say Drake understands cadence more the for example Kendrick is just wrong. Make a thread about how you love Drakes cadence and all but leave other rappers out of it. But at the same time we both know you would never gotten this many replies without comparing him to other rappers and saying hes the best at it.
