What metrics matter to you in judging who is currently bigger? Swifts tour did just over a billie, beyonce did $580M. Overall record sales they are in the “same bucket” with Taylor slightly ahead. This is with her being the smaller artist earlier in her career, her sales are still booming, Bey’s sales are declining, and they’ll never be what they were when she dominated the end of the CD era in the 00’s. Taylor’s movie did 6x what Beyoncé’s did ($260M vs $44M). Seeing a tweet and article saying renaissance did 1M equivalent sales, 300k first week…Taylor did 2.8M, 800k first day, 1.1M first week. Probably a BS metric but she’s brought $300M in brand value to the chiefs and has annoyingly been the biggest story of the nfl season. Taylor is bigger than Bey, at minimum, one must admit that where they are right now in their careers, Taylor is inarguably bigger.
Taylor has her fan base buying multiple copies of her old re-recorded music and threw the OGs in the bushes. I fukk with bey but Taylor is on another level

No doubt Taylor is huge and is putting up historic numbers

But the fact that Taylor made history Sunday yet talk of Bey, who wasn't even nominated this year, dominates the conversation says a lot

They discussing her snubs from BBC to French twitter

Guest one could make the argument B, the "icon", is now bigger than her music

Or controversy sells? Of course people gonna discuss her after jay’s speech. Been in plenty threads on Reddit discussing her post Grammy’s and they’re not advocating for her. Being the topic of discussion doesn’t mean all of that discussion is pro- you

Points made, but whether the commentary you encountered are "pro- " Bey is besides the point

Controversy sells and could it be that Bey is also huge? She hasn't even said a word and is the no 1 trending topic in regards to that night because of a speech her husband made

The same night Taylor made history and another super popular blk artist SZA who was nominated lost to her for AOTY

A speech that one could argue wasn't all that controversial in the grand scheme of things

She is not in her prime anymore commercially but she was moving close to a million units within a few days, a week as a solo artist and with a group at her peak

Taylor also caters to a way younger audience as well so the numbers don't tell the whole story

Edit

That's not to say B is bigger, but just in terms of impact, influence and star power overall not a reach to say they are on equal footing

Looking up the tour information, different outlets are reporting different information. Grossing over 1B would put Taylor's tour at #1 all time, but most lists have it and Beyonce's Renaissance tour in the top 10.

Taylor's tour had 151 shows. Beyonce's had 56. Renaissance tour ran from May- October 2023. The Eras tour ran from March 2023- present and will continue to run until December.

Beyonce's numbers will continue to decline because she's a Pop superstar in her 40's. There has never been a Pop star in their 40's doing crazy numbers. Michael Jackson, Mariah, Whitney, Janet and all the big artists wasn't even doing crazy numbers in their 40's. Invincible was a big album, but sold 2 million copies. By comparison, younger artists like Usher were selling 3 million copies that same year. Doesn't change how huge MJ was even in 2001. Taylor is still in her 30's.

Taylor Swift will remain in the news because of the Kelce relationship. She's a huge star dating a superbowl champ. If Beyonce was dating a superbowl champ, that would ve the story. She's married. Whomever Taylor is dating will be news because she's a single Pop star and a lot of her career has been her making songs about her past boyfriends.

Using Michael and specifically Invincible as an example of an artist declining in their 40’s isn’t a good faith argument. Invincible had its marketing budget cut when Michael decided not to resign with Sony because Sony was using a stipulation in Michael’s contract to deny him agreed upon ownership of his Masters. Sony retaliated by stopping promo of Invincible, thats why there was only one video and no push for the second single Butterfly and the planned third single Cry. Michael also scrapped plans to tour the album due to his feud with the label.

If Janet at the age of 50 can debut at number 1 with her last album then Beyonce, who is drug (Whitney) scandal (Michael) and Hiatus (Mariah) free can certainly be moving numbers well into her own 50’s and touring. She’ll be a more successful, more relevant version of Tina Turner.

All of this continues to support my point (and points I’ve already made) about Taylor being a bigger star right now.

Its a proven fact that Pop stars once they reach a certain age aren't doing numbers no matter who they are.

Taylor has damn near every album she made in the top 15 and yall talking Beyonce..lol

Come on now. We all want Taylor to disappear, but white fans aren't wishy washy like black fans who soon as a a artist get big, they start talking bad about them and hope they fail.

By Booth logic, Garth Brooks is bigger than Michael Jackson. Using the same metrics, ya'll would be arguing Garth Brooks >>>> Michael.
